I think birds are pretty cool, but they belong in the wild in my opinion. Seems cruel to lock them in a cage when they can fly. But after spending the last month nursing and handfeeding a sick house finch, I am beginning to get a new appreciation for them. They are smart enough creatures and they have a personality all their own. They are growing on me, but I would feel bad keeping one in captivity.

Birds seem cool when other people have them. They have a pretty long lifespan, however, so make sure you have someone responsible to bequeath them to. Parrots can live 80 or 90 years I believe. I think I'd get annoyed by all the chatter and the squawking, honestly.

I had a pet chicken before. He was very intelligent and affectionate. Later on I had two finches. Not exactly super smart but affectionate as well.

well, i guess okay, but they are dirty and you have to clean out their cages a lot and I would just rather have one who knew how to talk. maybe just a few sentences.

They make excellent pets and are absolutely capable of a relationship with it's owner. When I was young I raised parakeets, finches, cockatiels, quails and pigeons. As pets, over the long haul, only my dogs have been more important to me. I can still remember all of them and they all had their own distinctive personalities.

I love birds to. My mom used to have one when me and my brother were younger. The birds name was CJ. He was named after me and my brother. He was the sweetest bird ever.

Very cute pets. Once I had them I always needed to have one 'cause I miissed the chattering they made. I just bought a baby cockatail after my other one died just after the holidays. He's very affectionate & fun to have around.
