Easily the best claymation production ever created, Chicken Run is highly imaginative and very well done. The plot is simple enough--chickens want out and bad guys don't want them to do so. Throw in an American rooster (Mel Gibson, in what is arguably his best movie), and you've got a great set-up for comedy. Although much of the humor is inspired zaniness and dumb villains, there are some clever pop culture references, the best of which is an uproarious reference to the Original Star Trek series.

Good movie. good(actually great) for the kids.
zuchinibut 12/09/2002
This was not a very good movie. Since it is made for children this may be a little harsh, but there are other kids movies that are a lot more enjoyable for adults and just as funny to kids.

This one is a gem. It has a lot of jokes that will probably go over kids heads, but that's okay. I don't believe in talking down to kids anyway.
antondatree 04/25/2002
I came sooooo close to giving this 5 stars. I really liked it. Fun, enjoyable, great, the reason I gave it 4 was because of the atmosphere. Purely enjoyable. A must-see. Summary: A VERY VERY GOOD FILM THAT HAS AN UNLIKEABLE ATMOSPHERE.

I just want to know if the people that rated this movie good or great actually saw the movie. Because if you have you relize that this movie is quite horiible. True, it does take new steps in animation, but I would have to say that this movie is EXTREMELY BORING.

This was a pretty good movie. It's from the same creator of "Wallace and Gromit". a farm of chickens try to escape from being chicken pies. they get help from a rooster that the chickens think can fly.

This is such a great movie - it's so funny & anyone in any age can watch it & I wount be surprised if it's the adults who love it the most & laugh the most! Damn funny, volks! :-))

FANTASTIC!! C it or you'll regret it! This is an original piece that is so entertaining, not because it makes you laugh to death but because of it's very subtle humour and classic-gags. It is one that u can watch over & over again. It's great 4 adults and 4 kids. The characters are well-defined and even oscar worthy. The time and effort put into this film shines through and is one for the collection.

The kids loved the movie and have seen it several times. As parents, its best to have seen The Great Escape to get the full understanding and humor of the “why” and “how” they created different characters. It was a good solid movie. A lot of respect has to be given for the pure craft and artistry it took to make the movie. If you can, rent it on DVD. This has some excellent behind the scenes and how they made movie information.

Chicken Run is a terrible clay-animated feature with the voices of Mel Gibson and Miranda Richardson. This movie is for the chickens.

Nick Park and his powers of imagination is an inspiration to us all. Thank goodness there are still people who believe in using their minds and reaching for the highest point of comedy instead of the lowest. Sure, Chicken Run isn't for everyone, but my kids love it and I did and it was nice to watch something together and laugh and have fun.

The animation, excuse me, claymation was amazing. The time that it must have taken is unimaginable. All of it looked real. All of the jokes were aimed towards all ages, so parents that had to take their children could even enjoy it. The plot also kept your attention with little twists and turns.

I'm 11 years old.I thought this movie was great!!! I've seen it 3 times and I rate it my favorite movie!I've been waiting for it to come on video and pleased to say its coming out on November 21. I think EVERYONE SHOULD SEE CHICKEN RUN!!!!
jriker 11/09/2000
It wasn't a blockbuster hit, but claymation is amazing. I have worked in claymation before and know how lengthy it is. It's 32 frames per second, and for a 1 1/2 hour movie that's alot of work. It was a good movie.
swest 11/09/2000
I thought this movie was okay. It would be good for kids ages one through seven.
terk 11/01/2000
I thought the movie was great for all ages. The plot kept the adults interested, and the claymation entertained kids. It was a well-rounded movie that appealed to all types of audiences.

I have enjoyed claymation since I was a kid. I own the Wallace & Gromit series and to see a new twist was great. The characters were funny and full of life, and the plot was enjoyable. You really rooted for the chickens.
mauigirl 10/04/2000
This is a great movie if you're into animation, and even if you're not, you'll be amazed at the techniques and time it took to create an 1 1/2 hr. movie. While watching it, the area the chickens lived in made me think of concentration camps... think about it.
jchang 10/03/2000
This was a very good movie. It was cute, funny and smart. It is definitely a family movie. It seemed good because I understood the jokes.

This movie was superb! We saw it four times. The humor is exceptional. Alot of it is missed by the American audience, probably, but we love Nick Parks and Wallace and Gromit. The characters were fantastic. We enjoyed it every bit as much as our nine year old daughter, Cheyenne. Babs was one of our favorites.

All of Nick Park's movies are excellent entertainment for young and old alike. Chicken Run is no exception. It is not just a kiddie movie, but kids will love the characters too. Nick Park fans will miss Wallace and Grommitt though.

This is the most revolutionary piece of stop motion animation. It's an allegory for society, and the message is loud and clear. We must overthrow the system by any means necessary.
SJiu9655du 08/11/2000
Claymation features from the creators of Wallace and Grommit. Zany British humor is amusing for kids, yet sophisticated enough for adults. Best sequence is the great escape from the chicken pot pie making machine.
Anna9638om 08/11/2000
A cute movie, but not nearly as funny as some of the Wallace and Grommit sketches. A couple of very funny moments, but the movie occasionally lags and is only seldom clever. Worth maybe matinee price, rather than full price.
sava9537du 08/09/2000
A hilarious movie. I especially liked the quick, almost subliminal clips of ridiculous activities. It could have been shorter though.
WHSI9527OM 08/09/2000
A great claymation movie with a clear perspective from both the human and animal point of view. The story board is kind of silly, but it still has great entertaining value for both adults and children.
Quix9197om 07/31/2000
I don't know what the hype is all about. It wasn't even that funny. The animation was good, but it has been done before. Only kids should watch it.
amou9184du 07/31/2000
This movie is a visual masterpiece. The time and effort it took to make this film far surpasses the over hyped computer trash put on by Dreamworks or Disney. This movie has true artistic skill and a great script to add! I recommend this movie to anyone.
will9039om 07/26/2000
i thought chicken run was fantastic!!!! i found it to be a fresh break from all of the other "garbage" that has been released lately!! bravo job nick parks...it takes an extreme amount of time and ambition to produce a film of such character.....
CUX28960om 07/23/2000
Another winning film from the creative feam behind Wallace and Granit. This movie is fun, but may not be for kids despite the G rating. It's dark, violent, and scary at times.
psim8850du 07/20/2000
Great film. The claymation was top-notch. The story was accessible to children and it was a metaphor for adults. It had great comedic rythm.
tree8753om 07/18/2000
I really think that Nick Parks is a master of masters in the specialized world of puppet animation, and even though he did not personally move the puppets around in this, his first feature film, his eye for detail and his dry Brit humor rings through. I saw a sneak screening and when the movie was over I hid in the bathroom and snuck in with the next audience just to see it again.
Wiggum 07/01/2000
I'm glad I saw Chicken Run, because it's unique and creative, but I just couldn't get into it. The digitally-enhanced "claymation" is interesting, but it gets old fast. I think Chicken Run would have made a great 5 or 10 minute short film, but it just doesn't cut it as a full-length motion picture. Let it be noted, however, that the audience in the theater didn't seem to agree with me. For some reason I couldn't fathom, they laughed at everything. Here's an example: at one point, a guy poured a bunch of food for the chickens, and one chicken yelled, "Oh - my favorite - chicken feed!" The audience laughed as if that was the funniest thing they'd ever heard. So if that type of "humor" sounds really amusing to you, go for it. But if you're looking for a real movie, go see other recent releases like Perfect Storm or The Patriot. And if you're thinking about seeing Chicken Run with kids, be warned that, despite the "G" rating, there are some scenes that might be scary to really small children (a chicken getting the axe, for instance).
upchuck 06/24/2000
Kids will love this movie and so will their parents, the "claymation" is super and it is a cute story line...
