I was so glad that Amazon had this CD! It was an import and expensive but well worth it! I couldn't find it anywhere else! I am really enjoying the CD; I had it only on vinyl record before and now can listen to it in my iPod or Apple computer whenever I want. If you like the 70's progressive-rock group Renaissance, you'll love this album.

Well, I've had the LP version of Scheherazade by Renaissance since it first came out however many years ago, but the record isn't very convenient to listen to. Now I listen to the CD constantly. Signed, Aging Hippie

Great music. I had this album back in the 70's. This album was my indoctrination to Renaissance. What a group. The vocals are wonderful as well as the instrumentation. I did not realize how bass driven this music was when I had the album. I never got to see Renaissance live but I have recently seen some of their live performances on You Tube and if you want to know how true the group was to their music you must see the live videos. Of course I'm only talking about those that have never seen them live. I envie those who have.

This is just another "classic" for all you prog fans! Of all the albums that I've heard from this band this is one of the best, with classical moves and a sometimes "spooky" vibe that sets it apart from the symphonic-prog pack. An almost folk-like vocal delivery from Annie helps this to weather well for me.....(although some may not agree). I love this one Novella and Ashes Are Burning. Top stuff with a lot of musical integrity and invention.

1975's "Scheherazade And Other Stories" continues the winning streak of the great band Renaissance, who effortlessly tossed off one magnificent album after another during their 70's heyday. "Scheherazade" is a beautifully crafted album, expertly sung & played, filled with lush, orchestral progressive pop-rock that's guaranteed to sweep you away. There are only four pieces on the album, but they are all winners. "A Trip To The Fair" is a heavenly 11-minute dreamscape. "The Vultures Fly High" is a short but very effective prog-rocker. "Ocean Gypsy" is a gorgeous song, and one of the band's all-time classics. And then, of course, there's the 25-minute, nine-part epic, "Song Of Scheherazade," the band's magnum opus that reinterprets Rimsky-Korsokov's classical tale about the Sultan and the magical woman, Scheherazade, who ultimately wins his heart. With orchestral accompanyment by the London Symphony Orchestra, the band perform this opus with tremendous power and beauty. Once again, the whole band shines throughout the album: Annie Haslam's magical singing voice, Michael Dunford's brilliant guitar-playing, Jon Camp's powerful basslines (and co-lead vocals on "Scheherazade"), John Tout's phenomenal keyboard work, and Terry Sullivan's incredible drumming. Long live Renaissance! "Scheherazade And Other Stories" is an outstanding album.
