I enjoyed this one, even though my girlfriend had to force me to watch it at first. The book was pretty good too.

This movie touches on some of the superstitions, mores, and other mystic values that some cultures have associated with food. It talks about passion, desire, and love, all repressed then released. I loved this movie. However, those of you who are unfamiliar w/foreign cinema may not appreciate it as much.

I was really expecting more out of this one. I just wasn't feeling it. I had no sympathy for any of the characters.

I tend to remember great movies and terrible movies. I saw Like Water for Chocolate, but it didn't stay with me at all. I figure this means it wasn't too bad, but then again, it wasn't that good. So I give it a 3.

In college I lived with a couple of guys from Costa Rica, and Ecuador and they kept going on about how great this was and how I just had to see it etc. Well I'm someone who really enjoys foreign films but I gotta say this one just seemed to strike too far left of bulleye for me. I found it to be a somewhat moronic plot...(two lovers who can't marry because the guy is married to her sister exchange their passion through the meals she prepares for him, blah blah blah). As the John Lovitts character "The Critic" would say....It Stinks!

As someone who was raised on Hollywood blockbusters, this movie just didn't do it for me. Magical cooking and tons of complicated characters are not what I am looking for in a movie. If you are a fan of Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Isabelle Allende books, you will probably like this movie, if you don't know who these writers are, don't bother - I guarantee that you will be confused and frustrated between the overlap between reality and fantasy.

Very moving. The actors put so much feelings into the film. A remarkable movie.
