Return of the Jedi 5

This was a great movie. It's original title was 'Revenge of the Jedi.' But George Lucas had to change the title because Jedi's don't get revenge. Luke, Lando, Chewbacca, and Leia go to Tatooine to Rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hut.
Jabba makes leia become his slavegirl. When Luke arrives, Jabba tries to have him killed by the Rancor. But Luke kills the Rancor. When the Rancor's owner sees his dead pet, he starts crying. I can understand people crying when their pets die. But only a nut case would want to have a monstrosity for a pet.
Jabba tries to have Luke, Han, and Chewbacca killed by the Sarlacc. But Jabba himself is the only one who dies. I loved to see Carrie Fisher in that bikini. That caused her to become a sex symbol for a while.
Han, Leia, Luke, and Chewbacca go the the forest moon of Endor. Han, Leia, and Chewbacca struggle to deactivate the Death Star's shield. Luke turns himself in to his father.
I really liked the scenes with the speeder bikes. I also enjoyed this movie having a second Death Star. This was one of my favorite Star Wars films. I give it a 5 star rating.

Return of the Jedi 5

All of the first three Star Wars movies deserve a five star rating IMO. They certainly kept the kids coming back for more. This chapter in the original series was perhaps the weakest for story line but I think the special effects mostly make up for it. Every kid wanted to see these films. Nothing quite like the popularity of the Star Wars series.

Some great action, including Boba Fett using his JetPack (but no disintegrator!). Some great scenes with Jabba the Hutt, the Rancor in the Pit, Yoda's fading into the Force, and the End of the Empire. Hamill continues to perform good siloloquies and his easy excitement offsets his relative inability to capture dramatic moments with others. Often mentioned as being a favourite. Scout Troopers have nicer uniforms than Storm Troopers. Lando, Vader and i Luke are vindicated at the end of Anakin's saga.

A fitting conclusion to the Original Trilogy, between stormtroopers getting handed to by angry balls of fur, Jabba getting choked out by a luscious princess, and Vader finally getting it right...

Some people bag on the Ewoks, but I liked them. A strong ending to the original trilogy.

Return of the Jedi 5

Certainly all of the original trilogy are worthy of 5 stars. Personally, I think Star Wars is a great story- Sci Fi genre aside. The only problem I ever had was the fact that Lucas got away from his original story idea to a certain extent. In the book, Star Wars, upon which the 1977 movie was based, Vader was not Luke's father and the Princess was not his sister. Despite this change and lot of loose ends however, the end result was still excellent.

Episodes 4-6 are all worthy of 5 stars. If I had to choose one that was my least favorite, it would be this one, but it's still an excellant movie. The story is good, and anything it lacks is made up for by the special effects and persona of the actors.

Return of the Jedi 4

Released in 1983, "Return Of The Jedi" attempted and for the most part succeeded in tying up all the loss ends and in bringing the Star Wars saga to a conclusion. Because the film had this responsibility, the screenwriters were a bit controlled; nevertheless, they still failed on some fronts. On the plus side, casting was again not really an issue as Mark Hamill returns as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford portrays Han Solo, etc, and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian improved from his weak performance in "The Empire Strikes Back." The viewer finally gets some good looks at the supreme nemesis in the form of Emperor Palpatine (played by Ian McDiarmid). The special effects continued to improve as well, spectacular for 1983. The problems, however, are notable and material. As several comments have noted, the Ewoks were overexposed. While the scenes and editing were frantic and fast-paced in "Empire," they were extended in "Jedi," which resulted in a slower-paced film and caused the Ewok problem to be exacerbated. Moreover, the story relied on another Death Star that must be destroyed which evidences some dearth of imagination and ideas. Certainly the screenwriters could have come up with a more original task for our heroes besides resurrecting the same goal from "Star Wars." Nevertheless, nearly all complaints and criticisms of "Jedi" are relative as the film still shines when compared with most other science fiction movies.

Actually 4.5 stars if I could. The final movie of the saga had a slight letdown (Yoda passes away) but pretty good special effects. Not my favorite but it is good.

At the time I saw it, it was my favorite of the three. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that it may be the weakest of the three because of the Ewoks. There wa no need to include the adorable(annoying) creatures. Still love the last temptation of Luke and the Luke taking on Jabba's henchmen.

It's always a battle between this and Empire for being the second best Star Wars. This also had an excellent score and amazing special effects like the other two. It has a wonderful end to the Star Wars trilogy. Plus those Ewoks are amusing and the explosion of the death star is incredible. An absolute triumph in film history. Got To LOVE it!

The Return of the Jedi is miles in front of The Empire Strikes Back and a little better than the first since the story gets interesting more quickly. It's better than the recent (set earlier) additions to the story.

Again another sequel. I've seen them all about a million times. I love all of them. They all rock.I must say though. That this is I think, the best one. Not because it;s the newest of the trilogy, but that the story line is very well done. I guess I say that about every movie that I rate, but this one deserves it.

Return of the Jedi 5

This film was the perfect close to the most explosive trilogy in film history. Of the three origional films, this one is definately my favorite for a number of reasons. The battle scenes were wonderful, and the special effects, were, as to be expected coming from George Lucas, absolutely breathtaking. Everything seemed to come into place in this film with the death of Yoda and the subsequent "death" of Darth Vader. I enjoyed the last 30 minutes of the film the most, espescially the final battle scene between Vader and Luke, and I thought that having Vader save his son by killing the Emperor was the perfect way to solidify that old saying- blood is thicker than water. At least that is how I interprited it. In my opinion, this one was the best of the entire trilogy and the perfect closure. BTW, the Ewoks are awesome!

The Return of the Jedi is underrated, relative to its predecessors. The movie, as a last of a trilogy, is a perfect ending to a masterful story. The musical score is impeccable, next to Godfather II. It deserves a 5.

Hm, kids don't like Chewie. Maybe he's too big and gruff. Hey! Let's make a smaller version, anagram his species name and sell stuffed toys! Hurrah! A MARKETABLE version! Now, how about the ending? Should we make Luke a true tragic hero who fails and turns evil? Gosh, the American audience won't like that, Mr Lucas. Lets have a warm, snuggly ending with success, redemption, and ... fireworks! Yay! Still, better than the newest ones.

this movies timing was perfect i was in my early teen years and able to understand the somwhat deeper themes of the film. (redemption, forgivness, family) after empire this would be number two for me. to sum it up i guess there are three things that are most memorable to me about jedi: 1. the lapti nek song from jabba's band(still prefer it over the sp.ed music) 2.carrie fisher(still have a crush on her to this day.)3.the scene where the jedi "anakin" returns and saves his son and his own life. on of the few scenes in movies that can choke me up even today.

Pesky ewoks notwithstanding, this is still one fine movie. It ties up all the story threads from the first two to make a perfect type ending. Of course the special effects are superb, but unlike many movies since, they don't drown the story. They enhance it. And those who think this is just another sci-fi movie are totally wrong. This is about family, this is about the battle of good and evil/right and wrong. It is also a story of redemption and coming of age. The climactic battle between Vader and Luke is one of my all time favorite movie scenes.

The best movie of the original trilogy, RoTJ features a second death star and a huge battle to destroy it between two fleets. Meanwhile, on a planet with an amusing race of aliens called the Ewoks, Han and Leia work to sabotage the shield generator protecting said Death Star. Also, look for Jabba the Hutt, the Emperor, Darth Vader and much more in this exciting and great movie!

My favorite movie of all time, bar-none. I love the Trilogy, and this film, in my opinion, is the greatest. The whole Jabba's palace scene, the battle on Endor, the huge space battle, and the climactic scene in the Emperor's throne room - this movie has it all. The trilogy concludes itself well in this fantastic film, proving to be a tale of the power of good, and, ultimately, redemption.

George Lucas has outdone himself with the final movie of the Star Wars trilogy. This movie shows that the force has a way of balancing good and evil. I liked the story, the props and setting used in the story, the technology concepts, and revealing of Jabba the Hut was unforgettable. The true glory of a revolution and efforts of one Jedi can show one that we are never limited in any of our dreams.

REturn of the Jedi, is, in my opinion, the best of the Star Wars original trilogy. All of the action, suspense, the atmosphere is just right. George Lucas can make movies, and well. There are many reasons to see the movie such as, The emperor has a larger part, the war ends, the rebels defeat the empire. There are too many reasons to list. Han gets freed, Jabba dies, and the Death Star blows up. The digitally remastered version makes the movie even better than it already is. This is a must see movie.

It just did not compare to my standard for great science fiction movies. It had a lot of forced dialog, which is always annoying, and it had lost the excitement and heroism of the first movie. It felt as if Lucas cared more about presenting his Hindu idealogy than about creating a great movie. I like science fictions that have more intellectual value, not ridiculous child play to the tune of eastern religeons.
