Typical Frank Capra story but done in grand style with a terrific performance by James Stewart that made him a star. Who couldn't root for Jefferson Smith during the fillibuster?

Saccharine in parts but a nice story nonetheless.

This was such a great movie and one of my alltime favorite movies. James Stewart always blows me away and this is chareceter is absoultely amazing. I would never be able to stand on my feet for a whole 48 hours was it? Just to stand up to something he believe in, he was incredible. I wish we had more politicians like Mr. Smith in our days today!

It gets intense once it really gets going. This is one of James Stewart's finest performances. His character, Jefferson Smith, is a role model for us all. He refuses to give up on what he believes, even in the face of major opposition and threat, and even when it looked like he didn't stand a chance of winning. (Of course, he had some major encouragement from a frieind too.) One thing I think is interesting about the movie is how non-political it is. There is no indication of what political party Mr. Smith was affiliated with. And the cause he was fighting for was neither liberal or conservative. It was done in such a way that anyone who watched the movie could side with him. It's just a great, uplifting movie that is well worth seeing.

politically immortal story, i mean...until now there are still politicians like Paine (or at least here in our country). it transcends time and distance. good script. better actor (james stewart).

James Stewert in his best role ever as a small town do-gooder become politician. He slowly relizes what type of a place Washington DC is and the flaws in our government in this still powerful/important film.

This is a really, really, really bad movie. It amazes me that this flick has the following it does....the writing is pathetic and the acting not much better....a good money maker in its day but a lousy picture all round.

A wonderful movie dealing with politics and faith in a dream. Jimmy Stewart gives a stunning performance as the man who wants something better for the American kids.

Interesting and even inspiring. Good for any age. Great black and white film.

An amazing movie! It may seem corny, but this (Jimmy Stewart's character) is politics as it should be--full of ideals and enthusiasm. I think we can make it back there some day.
