Philadelphia Story 3

An overrated film that doesn't stand the test of time, because the dialogue is overly theatrical. Much as in the contemporary dramas of Eugene O'Neill, the conversations are stilted, and Cary Grant is not at his best reciting his overly long bits of dialogue. James Stewart is better because speechifying roles are his trademark. Katherine Hepburn is great, but was she ever bad in a movie? Not much chemistry here, though it's still a good chance to see three great talents at work.

With Hepburn, Grant, and Stewart in the film - it doesn't get any better than that!

good well done and acted movie. Katherine Hepburn was perfect in the role of Tracy I heard when the play was written it was custom made for her. very good cast, with James Stewart, Cary Grant, has some very funny scenes. about a snobby socialite about to be married again. it is covered by the press and her ex husband cary grant is part of that. still holds up today.

I know I will never see another film with the wit, chemistry, and timing of Philadelphia Story.

Everyone says that this movie is THE greatest screwball comedy but i dont see what the big deal is. Hepburn was better and funnier in Bringing Up Baby and Woman of the Year. The ending seems kinda forced and predictable without much motivation. The only bright spot is Jimmy Stewart's drunk scene when he confronts Cary Grant.

This movie has some good things about it but I was a little disappointed. I knew about it being the only movie James Stewart won an Oscar for so I was expecting it to be at least as good as some of my other favorite James Stewart movies. It wasn't quite that, but it's still pretty good.

This is one of my favorite movies, I watch it whenever it's on HBO. I love Katharine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart in almost anything, and Cary Grant is at his most alluring when he's doing comedy.(e.g. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, His Girl Friday, Bringing Up Baby-also with Hepburn)

I believe this one may be one of Kate Hepburn's best character, as she's not playing Tracy Lord, she IS Tracy Lord!!!!!
