Six Feet Under is very awesome the first few seasons. It really was a new, completely refreshing series with a perspective that had never really been seen before. Smart, bold characters and plot lines with an unparalleled realness and inner voice kind of thing happening for each character. But like all great groundbreaking drama series' the longer it goes on the less tight the story becomes. In the beginning you had a sense that the whole thing had a kind of underlying reality that would eventually fully reveal itself, but instead we were left with an odd set of twists and turns that never really makes sense.

Fearless writing!  I really enjoyed the roller coaster ride I was on watching every episode.

It was an undeniably good show...most of the series that have appeared on HBO are...but it was too uneven for my tastes, a little too taken with its own studied quirkiness, having a tendency to veer a little too often into pretension and occasionally even silliness, for it to qualify as "brilliant", in my humble opinion. Still, I watched it to the bitter end, never missed an episode, and some of those episodes had real intensity and emotional punch. It benefitted from the inclusion of some very good actors, particularly Michael Hall as David Fisher and Frances Conroy as his mother.

Six feet Under was a great show with talented actors and good writing. pretty original show about a family who runs a funeral home. I liked how at the very beginning of each show you saw how the funeral home's "customer" died. I think this was a very good program but they were wise to end it before it got stale or bad. I have seen that many times when an excellent show was great at first then went way down hill or "jumped ship"and you did not recognize the show. had a good run while it was on.

Well, it was canceled after 5 seasons. The story was told. And yes, it's one of the best series of the decade.
