The subject, the coverup, the military law that is sadly, briefly highlighted in the movie made it excellent!

The reason more than a few of my classmates decided to enroll in law school. I wish I were kidding but I'm not. While I don't think any movie, including this one, should ever drive your career decisions, I do think this movie is worth seeing. But if you don't know that by now, it also means you don't knwo where the line "You can't handle the truth" comes from -- and that's just unacceptable.

A nice movie attempting to describe some of the intricacies of the inner works of the Military.

Tom Cruise's best performance to that point in his career, great job by entire cast, gripping story, classic court battle,a highly entertaining movie!

This movie can't handle a 5!!! So I am giving it a strong 4. Cruise and Nicholson put in very strong efforts.
GenghisTheHun 12/01/2005
This is about the dumbest courtroom drama of any I've ever seen! The one hour Perry Mason television shows had more realism. I sure that a hard bitten Marine Colonel of twenty years service is going to fall for a cheap trick from some wet-behind the ears lawyer. Yeah, sure!

This is a great movie, I believe this movie is Tom Cruise's best acting performance and Jack Nicholson does an amazing job. The exchange between these two at the end of the movie in the court room is probably the greatest scene in the history of moviedom. Great movie, one of the best I have seen.

Not perfect, but a damn good film version of a stage play. . .the movie is full of glorified cameos but it still works. . .decent acting and the plot moves along rather well. ..

i love demi, think Jack is terrific, even Tom was good...

Nicholson is magnificent in one of his controlled but over the top performances. No one else in the cast comes close. Just average.

Good Movie. Jack Nicholson is great. Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise. Demi Moore is tragically tedious, and Kevin Pollack is funny. There have been better films, but this one is definitely entertaining enough for a look. Very little violence, and no gore.

This movie includes one of the great court scenes ever done in a movie. I'm can handle the truth: this movie was fantastic.

What a captivating, compelling military drama which is nearly perfect in every department. A solid story and phenominal acting alone makes this film worth watching. Jack Nicholson gave his best performance ever in this film, delivering those famous lines: "You can't handle the truth!". His acting prior to and after saying that was just so intense and phenominal it makes me wonder why he didn't win the Oscar. Tom Cruise was also at the top of his game, and he was equally intense in the famous courtroom scene with Jack Nicholson. This truly is a drama that will thrill you and keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Unmissable!

A powerful look into corruption in the military and the debate between following orders v obeying your personal consience.
charliethetuna 02/07/2002
Nicholson at his best. Jack Nicholson plays Jack Nicholson playing a hardcore USMA Colonel heading up the base at Guantanamo Bay. Tom Cruise plays Tom Cruise playing a cocky, young military defense attorney. Kiefer Sutherland as Nicholson's conniving Lieutenant portrays the slimeball accomplice perfectly, and Kevin Bacon as the JAGcorps DA gets that part to a tee. Combine all of that with splendid direction by Rob Reiner and you've got the best courtroom drama since Inherit the Wind. Oscars? No. They don't give Oscars to movies that make you feel good about the military. But, after 9-11, maybe they should reconsider.

Why Jack Nicholson did not win an Oscar for his performance is completely beyond me. The whole "You can't handle the truth" outburst was one of the all-time examples of great acting. Oh, yeah, everybody else (Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, etc.) did a pretty good job. A fast paced thriller that never runs out of steam. Anybody know who played Dawson and Downey? I'd like to know. Well, that's enough of my babbling. Take care, everyone.

A Few Good Men was a movie that I caught at the theaters in 1992, and I came out kind of with mixed feelings. Tom Cruise shouldn't have been in this movie, he was extremly boring and annoying. Jack Nicholson was great and shined up the film. Demi Moore is her usual foolish self.

A must see

A film that shows authority in a bad light - that seems to be becoming more present in films. However, this film wasn't petty. It had an extremely good storyline and characters that kept it running smoothly. It showed the intricate way a lawers mind works, for example, Demi Moore's character puts away the baseball bat in the cupboard and Tom goes to get it and see his clothes hung up all nice and neat and gets him thinking. Its very convincing. Jack Nicholson is fantastic, he makes his character smarmy "You want me on that wall, you need me on that wall." and "You've just made a country weaker today son" This is a film that won't be revered, but it'll be remembered.

All I have to say is two names: Tom Cruise and Aaron Sorkin. Aaron Sorkin is the best director and writer I have seen in a long time. He finally got recognized in 2000 at the Emmy's for his talent. A Few Good Men has great looking guys and a believable plot as to what might happen to a weak member of a military squadron.

Very entertaining. After I saw it I felt like going to law school.

Jack Nicholson's has the greatest court speech ever. Intriguing story that keeps you glued to your seat. Interesting look into military life.

Love the story. Intense. I can watch it over and over again. I love Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson.
Oatcat 11/08/2000
Great performances by high profile actors. Tom Cruise was fabulous as a lawyer, not to mention attractive. Fabulous, intracite plot that I could follow.
nemisis 11/06/2000
This movie I rated a 5 because it emotionally touched me in a way that changed my life. It opened my eyes to view the world in a whole different way.
drewha 11/02/2000
One of the bests casts ever in a movie. Intensity and emotion came from this cast. Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise were great.
Shroomwoman 09/14/2000
This fast-paced movie kept my attention from start to finish. It tells the story of two Marines accused of killing a fellow soldier and the investigation that follows. With a gripping plot and excellent acting across the board (Tom Cruise, Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson star), A Few Good Men is a winner. My favorite scene is with Jack Nicholson in the courtroom. YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
magellan 06/20/2000
"I want the truth." "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!". The truth is, this is a pretty entertaining movie. It's hard to go wrong with talented actors such as Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, and Demi Moore, a government conspiracy plot, and some memorable lines. Definitely a Hollywood formula movie, but a Hollywood formula movie which was well executed.

The trial scenes are really intriguing, especially the final one. I don't like Tom Cruise being the lawyer though. He doesn't have the lawyer-kind-of face. I hate his acting too. Jack Nicholson does a great job!!
