One of the first horror films where the villian seemingly never quite died and had supernatural recuperative powers. It may have been JLC's first big part in the movies. Donald Pleasence always delivers the goods. Great soundtrack too. As is usually the case, the first film is the best.

not very big on slasher movies at all. I have only seen a few. Halloween was the first. not bad, Jamie Lee Curtis played the lead teenager who a slasher is after. he kills along the way. find out at end he is her older brother Michael who was put in a mental institution as a boy when he killed his family except for his baby sister Laurie now he has come back for her years later. scarey I guess. okay as those slasher thriller movies go.

I hate the fact that people get rich making slasher movies. Won't watch them.

Halloween has always been my favorite horror series and friday the 13th. michael myers(killer) is my favorite out of all of them. horror movies rock. and michael myers and jason voorhees are my 2 favorites! also, i started liking horror movie when i was 10 and me and my friends watch horror movie all the time. so yeah, i love michael myers and all the other guys.

I have a feeling this movie was very scary back in 1978,it still is creepy,the look is scary it itself,what made it so good to me was it was almost bloodless,most movies today are all about gore,and to me that is not scary. but this movie had true suspence that made it a classic.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I love it so much that I bought a Michael Myers mask one halloween and when people said stuff to me...I didn't say anything back!

This is the first horror movie i ever saw and it scared the crap out of me. I still love watching this, even though it doesn't scare me anymore, it still leaves chills.

Horror is definitely not my genre, but this is one of the few movies that actually scared me as a kid. Probobly the best horror movie of all time, right up there with the Exorcist.

Jamie Lee's debut and she is a great scream queen. This slasher was really scary. Its idea of an unstoppable boogey-man is truly frightening. This is one of John Carpenter's good ones.

Probably in my top 3 horror flicks of all time. This movie will scare the bejesus out of people who watch it for the first time. Timeless horror scenes, suspense, and mystery. John Carpenter is the man when it comes to horror. I highly recommend this to anybody's collection.

This is a pretty darn good thriller.It's not really horror.The only thing that would make this film horror is Michael being as scary and inhuman as he was,and not dying.The rest is suspense!!!I love the suspenseful music at the beginning!!!Basically,this movie rocks!!!

One great movie of its kind. I certainly was horrified to see it from beginning to end. Defintely a classic that many horror fans would like to see over and over again. Out of all of the Halloween series, this is the best. Will Michael ever be stopped?

genuinely scary - the fact that it was somewhat believable and dwelt in things (babysitting) and places (suburbia) that we like to see as pure and safe made it all the more frightening
