A pretty good bio-pic with plenty of Doors music. I assume it can't be terribly accurate if Oliver Stone directed it. But to revisit the past and just enjoy the music was a lot of fun. I saw the Doors in concert when Morrison was in his prime at an outdoor concert at night. It was awesome! The band and Jim sounded great and no drunken or stoned foolishness. Just professional all the way. I thought Val Kilmer performed very well and can't think of anyone else who could have improved on portraying Jim. By the way at the concert I attended Jim did not turn his back to perform and stood front and center and had complete control over the audience.

Possibly the best rock and roll bio-pic and one of Oliver Stone's better efforts. He doesn't let any of his personal agenda items get in the way of telling the story. Nicely captures the times with a trippy feel and Kilmer is surprisingly excellent as Jim Morrison. My one complaint with the film would have been the casting of Meg Ryan as Pam Courson.

I think the DOORS are great! I found the movie interesting, of someones version of the legendary band. Recently I went to a PEACEFROG concert, small venue. The lead singer resembled Jim so much. Between the instrumental part of 'Light My Fire', he was standing right in front of me, so I reached out and touched his back. It felt as though I touched Jim. What a thrill!

Not enough music! Too much weirdness.

I think the musical sequences were convincing. But I can't help but have a problem with a film that glamorizes Morrison. He was a decent frontman but a complete failure as a human being.

Of course, the music in this film is magnificent- but Oliver Stone took many liberties in making this film.He DID capture something about the era-but the movie gives a very distorted and inaccurate view of Morrisson-for example,he NEVER locked any of his girlfriends in a closet and set fire to the house!!! Although he did many outrageous things, this movie maliciously concentrates on a single aspect of his personality for the sake of drama and cheap thrills. It is based on the book No one Here gets out Alive, which is far from the best (or most accurate) book about Morrison & the Doors. In fact, the movie makes little or no sense if you aren't familiar with the book.

Having been in bands at the same time...I thought this movie was pretty well done. Not entirely correct but does give you the feel of Jim and the culture then...Val did a good job in this. Jim was absolutely fabulous looking then. Almost sur-real! I was in the audience in when he stripped. It was quite an event! Val definately leaves you with the flavor. The flavor was bittersweet - like Jim's life. Loved the DOORs.

The movie was terribly inaccurate in it's potrayal of Jim. He had a very sweet, shy side which made him irristable to every one who knew him.I'm saddened that this generation is getting such a horrible depiction of Jim.

One of my all-time favorite films! The Doors have always been my favorite musicians and Val Kilmer's performance is one of the best in cinema history if you ask me! He looked and sounded like Morrison in every way! EXCELLENT FILM!

I enjoyed it as a movie depicting a fictional band. As a biopic on the Doors, it left much to be desired. Entertaining and dark, but not historically accurate or important.

Val Kilmer's astounding, accurate portrayal of Jim Morrison's life and character is what makes this movie great. Also, the cinematography is pretty breathtaking when they trip in the desert. This is one of my all time favorite movies.

This is one of the greatest music movies. You gain insight to what made them who they were. I love the Doors and think Jim Morrison is a great writer. The movie showed aspects of his life that lead to his destruction. Great movie.

Great movie with a sad ending. He was a great talent engulfed by self indulgence. The movie showed the creativity behind the man. Such a waste of talent. It is really sad.

The movie is really well made, but not well cast...(except for Val Kilmer). Meg Ryan should not be playing Jim Morrison's wife/girlfriend. Still, by the end of the movie it was very hard for me to separate Jim Morrison from Val Kilmer. He does an excellent job. Do not watch this movie if you are in love with Jim. You'll come out despising him. Cinematically, the movie is superb.
