Deftly combines crappy 80's pop with timeless cliched teen angst themes to produce one dull movie. Movies this lame aren't made by accident, they are the result of the combined efforts of creative committees, careful target marketing and extensive focus testing.

Retarded, juvenile drivel that appeals to the culturally deprived and weakminded. Dated to the point that copies of this dreck should be installed in the Smithsonian. It's a wonder what crap captures the imagination of the mongoloid American movie-going public.

If not for bad performences by John Lithgow and Kevin Bacon, this movie could almost top Grease. Footloose is the story of a young man who moves into a small suburban town where dancing is prohibited. It will be hard getting used to that kind of living, because of his special gift of dancing. But, like anyone else would do, he starts a big war, as he teaches the town how to dance, but the town priest hates it, and won't let his daughter learn how to.

I remember singing "Let's Hear It For The Boy" constantly as a child. Not only that I would try to dance like Kevin Bacon, walkman in hand. It's just one of those movies that remains a fond memory of your childhood.

Life changing film. Exemplifies conflict between popular culture and religious fever. The music is a compilation of 80's classics. Timeless movie of teen angst. It deals with, through dance and popular rock music, the meta structure of small town religious mentality changes.

Along with Diner, this is Kevin Bacon's best early role. He absolutely carries this film. The plot is simple. Bacon's character moves to a small town in the midwest from the big city and struggles to fit in in a town which doesn't allow dancing or music. Sure, it seemed completely unrealistic and there aren't too many movies from the 80s which will seem more dated (after all, you'll see Sarah Jessica Parker as a high school student as opposed to a horny New Yorker). Yet, if you've never seen it, check it out. It will be a pretty quick hour and a half.

Footloose is a classic to me. I went to a private school all my life so I know how it feels to search for some excitement.

Footloose is the movie that made me want to get up and dance, it is probably my favorite music movie.
