Very modern for a big musical and it touched on many subjects that were previously taboo especially in this genre. Roy Scheider did a fine job portraying Bob Fosse.

i would really give this movie a 4.5, The actors are all good. Yul Brynner is wonderful as the king as well as Deborah Kerr. Most of the songs are good except for a couple that are boring. the movie is about a teacher who goes to Siam to teach the kings children. It is about the relationship they have. She is strong willed and they argue, It shows how the king grows to care for her.

Yul was one sexy bald man at that time! Debra K was fantastic in this role. Beautiful scenes - A good plot and well done for that time.

A musical where half the main characters end up dead. Having no pat happy ending makes a refreshing change.

The King and I is an extremly colorful movie, but for some reason the songs don't really sound that great. The lyrics are fine, but the way that she sings them is a bit off. She sings them too high, and he dances strangly.

This was my mom's favorite-she likes Yule Brenher and it was about Siam. I like the costumes, setting and era. The music is great. Being Asian, I was immediately captured by the culture, and don't recall any other Asian muscials so it is even more special.

I thought this movie really did a good job of portraying a traditional King to move into a more modern era. I like the romance and the humor in this music movie.

The King and I is great. It mixes classical pop music with an Asian flare. Again, this movie leaves you singing. The duets between the King and the teacher leave you entranced.
