Possibly the best musical of all time. Better story than most with a fine cast and awesome dance routines. The "Singin in the Rain" scene is fantastic.

I thing what makes this musical great is the dancing. Nothing too exrravegant but very smooth and corolates well with the music/singing. And of course the title song "Singing In the Rain" is such a great moment in the movie. For it's age, I think it holds up well for modern times and is one of the 10 best musical ever!

The great classics don't get old. I did watch this when I was young and I did not ignore any of the parts. Not only I like the title music, but also "Gotta Dance", "Make 'em Laugh" & "Good Morning to You." Debbie Reynolds was one of the best voice overs for a beautiful, but squeaky woman in the movie that the actores wanted to produce. Love that one. Nothing can duplicate that MGM Masterpice now.

this movie is one of my very favorites! The movie is about the silent screeen era that is on the brink of going to talkies. It is well acted, has some terrific dance numbers. It is very funny in parts.Actors trying to adapt to a microphone. Jean Hagens funny voice. Wonderful dance numbers. It is hard to believe that Debbie Reynolds had never danced before this movie. She did a good job in her role. I always enjoy watching Gene Kelly dance. and Donald O'Connor was great as well. I have lost count how many times I have seen this movie.

Classic, classic, classic. Gene Kelly was just wonderful in this movie. Something about him in this movie is just so charasmatic and really draws you into the story of the movie. Perhaps the best scene was of Gene Kelly tapping and singing down the street in the rain. It's one of those scenes you never forget and always makes you smile. All of the dancing and singing was great, and Donald O'Connor was hilarious, as usual. The chemistry between Reynolds and Kelly was real and not forced which just made their performances that much better. But best of all, this musical actually had a plot. A real, substantial plot. From a musical, can you imagine.

The best thing about this movie is Jean Hagen! She did a great acting job of NOT being able to act! And, for all you trivia buffs, in the scene where Debbie dubs Jean's voice...it is actually Jean's real voice you hear. So ultimately, it was Jean dubbing Debbie dubbing Jean. This movie is one of the best all-around movies ever made. The acting was brilliant and the writing was top notch.

Unlike most musicals, this film has a compelling plot, an interesting premise that does well beyond the Well kids, let's put on a show formula of most Hollywood music tripe. This premise provides much more opportunity for narrative inventiveness (the film within the film topos, the tension of illusion and realty in Tinseltown that informs the picture, the comedic aspects of technology changing the film community. etc.) and frames the film in a way that allusions and suggestions about filmmaking, the star system, the perception of the public and its manipulation by studio moguls, the values of Hollywood, etc. are made relentlessly. In total, a self-referential flick that says much more than what's going on in the story. Fear, anxiety and greed are the quiet, underlying motivations here, likening the late 1920s film industry to its East Coast flipside, Wall Street, which also experienced quite an upheaval at this time. This is a musical with true heft. And, of course, the script is intelligent and funny, the songs are lively and memorable, and the dancing absolutely topknotch. Reynolds, for a non-dancer does a great job keeping up with the great Kelly and equally awesome O'Connor. Jean Hagen is a scream in this one, virtually stealing the picture without having to sing a note or dance a step. This was one of the last great films of the Golden Era of Hollywood musicals, taking the genre out on a high note.

Classic. One of the best movies ever made. Yes the dance movies are great, yes the storyline is genius, yes Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds are wonderful, but it's Jean Hagen who makes this movie great.

One of the all-time great movie musicals. It's an affectionate spoof of turmoil afflicting the movie industry in '20's changing from silent films to sound. Debbie and Gene were terrific.

This is by far the best musical I have ever seen. Gene Kelly did a wonderful job and his singing/dancing skills were top notch! Donald O'Connor was halarious at many points in the film...and I would have to say I love the scene of Don and Kathy in Kathy's car when they first meet. When you're finished watching the film, you feel like going down the streets imitating Gene's 'Singin' in the Rain' scene. Would definetely recommend this movie to people of all ages.

By far the best movie ever made! It's definitely my favorite. I had the honor of seeing it in an old, preserved theater in Milwaukee, WI and it was a very emotional experience. I love Donald O'Connor's energy, Debbie Reynolds's spunk, and who doesn't adore Gene Kelly's romp through the rain while he's singing the title track?

This is one of the great "feel good" movies of all time. Gene Kelly's dance number, singing and dancing in the rain, is a classic and one of his best. The "Good Morning" sequence with Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds is contagious -- after I've watched the movie, that song sticks in my mind for days!

Spectacular movie. At first i was extremely biased against it. As musical as very unmanly. As i watched it more ofteni began to enjoy it. The way it all slides together so nicely and the sheer comedy and good acting involved are stupendous. A must see for all.

A very bad score.

"Tremendous!" This all tapping, ballet and jazz film is great and a must-see for all dance lovers. Gene Kelly, Iam proud to say is the greatest dancer in the entire world, a cute one too and a great singer at that also. Also starring Debbie Reynolds (mother of Princess Leia or more appropriately Carrie Fischer) is beautiful and amazing, considering she did not dance until this movie (Gene Kelly taught her for the movie). It's a fun-loving, tap, crazy film with romance and humour (especially from "COSMO"). Go and c now!

This is my all time favourite movie ever. And I haven't seen anything yet to contradict this statement. Every little thing about it makes it special. You'll remember the first time you watched for ever.

This is the quintessential movie musical. Totally happy, totally wonderful. It has some of the best dancing you'll ever see, thanks to Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. Singin' in the Rain is the ultimate in feel-good films.
