And at $30-$35 per night during the week, it's just too good of a deal to pass up. The location is good - right on the monorail and close enough to the Las Vegas Convention center to walk. As far as the restaurants and services, they are decent as well. The 24 hour cafe serves a pretty good burger. The casino is passable and usually has $5 blackjack tables. Decent sportsbook. Convenience stores and snack shops open all night. My room was clean and spacious, though it did smell a little like my grandmother's house (not bad, just kind of old). But the real reason to stay here is that it's so darn cheap - when I go to Vegas, I am rarely in my room. There are just too many other distractions. Why not save your money for the fun stuff?

 | AndrewScott (73) 08/17/2005 | My room was comfortably adequate and an excellently discounted value for my three night stay. It was easy to linger in the casino, because the nickel slots had much better payoffs than the ritzier venues. Their blackjack tables are well regarded and approachable enough for the inexperienced visitor. For roller coaster lovers, I recommend the short and fast one that runs across the front of the casino, which turned out to be great fun. The buffet was mediocre, but certainly worth the 2-for-1 coupon we had. The Sahara is further north than some of the more impressive and hip casino-hotels on the Strip but I didn't regret my stay nor miss not having a rental car with a convenient enough bus line.

 | LilmisSE3 (0) 05/25/2004 | Was in Vegas weekend of 5-21-04 and I was nervous to stay at the Sahara after reading things written about it online. But the Sahara proved them all wrong. If your looking for a richy rich hotel with marble floors and gold plated shower head, no this is not for you. But if looking for a big fun, clean, hotel and casino for cheap,I would suggest this place in a heart beat. I made a reguest to stay in the newer tower, so I would suggest doing that. We stayed in the newer tower and the room was much better than expected. Wonderful view, very neat and clean, and comfortable. I am a very picky person when it comes to cleanliness! We ate at two of the diners. The Nascar one and the 24 hour diner, both were good, had good service. Not a five star restaurant, but either is the price, a fun good place to eat. The pool was wonderful, very nice. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only thing about the hotel that really needs change is the check in/out. The lines were crazy long! We used the electronic check in which is at the end of the counter. So we by passed the wait. I would suggest that or check in early like we did, not as long of line and they had no problems with us coming early. The Sahara has a free parking garage,we never had problems finding a spot. Plus they have the monorail opening soon their, that is free and takes you right down to all the action on the strip. Also..a side note for the newcomers to Vegas, don't do what I did and wear my brand new cutsie shoes. No matter where you are in vegas, you will be doing ALOT of walking! I would suggest very comforable sandles or tennis shoes. Either that or you'll be buying a box of band-aides a day like I did. Overall the Sahara is a place I would stay again. It's a step down in class from the big hotels like the Mirage and Treasure Island I'm sure, but much more realistic price. Would rather spend my money on other things in vegas, because I didn't spend much of my time in my hotel room anyway. Thanks Sahara!
