We had to read this for a business class. I thought it was terrible. The teacher thought it was great and it would tell people what to do. I don't like someone using something like that to try and tell you what to do and change people's behavior. You can't just read that and have things go right. I just saw that comedian that was saying, 'No One Took Your Cheese," and I will have to look at that.

I had to read this for my Professional Development class. I suppose that the book did offer some good advice about accepting and dealing with change, but I still had some issues with it. Using name such as Cheddar Lane, for example, to describe roads within the maze I found to be slightly childish and... well, chesey. I was also surprised by the all male cast of characters in the maze. You would think that for a book dealing with modern business operations that there would have been at least one female character in that maze.

This is a book that provokes the mind, the simple story is linked to your life if you make a link to it. Like Sam pointed out, it's not merely about careers or business, it doesn't follow a permanent flow, interpreting it differs from person to person. Reading the discussion part might be either leading or misleading but nonetheless the book has a core that is inevitably effective and it indeed was for me. It's about living life!

This book actually has other titles and authors. Some of you may know it as The Trial by Franz Kafka. Jon Carroll of the SF Chron says he knows it as The Gulag Archipelago. I'm waiting for the exciting real life sequel in which the one of the mice comes in with a briefcase full of semiautomatic weapons and takes out the rats who keep moving the cheese.

I am surprised at "Nasha's" comment..are you so clueless to think this book is for "morons (who) enjoy being downsized at at the mercy of corporate America" ? Duh, this delightful tale is not simply about business and corporations..get your head out of the sand and open your mind a bit. This is an easy read that you simply cannot put down until you have finished it. It relates to every person in every aspect of life. It is not simply about careers..it is about family, relationships, life in general. Sure, it is basically common sense, but most people seem to forget to look at life through this simple perspective. No matter what you are experiencing, this is a must read. Moving with change instead of fighting it is a skill that everyone needs to learn and accept.

Anyone who "enjoys" this book must enjoy being downsized at at the mercy of corporate America. This book is an insult to all Americans and is written with the moron in mind.
