I am a Thomas Harris fan for sure and this book was great. It is one of few that the movie matched closely. I finished the book just a week or so before the movie came out and thought they did a great job. Even the book gives you chills.

Pretty mundane. Just another serial killer story. Harris leaves a lot to be desired as a writer.

This book was excellent, and so was the movie. I bought the movie in DVD.

Absolute thriller classic. Should be read again and again; always good for a thrill. Thomas Harris really knows how to getcha.

This is one of the best books of its genre. Extremely sophisticated, full of metaphors, double meanings and hidden meanings . It really gives the serious reader something to bite on and disappoints those who are just looking for a cheap scare. All in all, one of the old time Classics.

okay, but dull if you've already watched the film (as i had)

I LOOOOOVVVVVE THIS BOOK!!! IT'S MY ALL TIME FAVE BOOK EVER!!!! IT'S WHAT MADE ME WANT TO BE A PROFILER!! ( OK, I'M STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL.....SO FREAKIN' WHAT?!?!?!) I WISH I WAS LIKE CLARICE!! SHE KICKS ASS....AND HANNIBAL TOO!!!!!

Great book, but I wish one thing had been different. In the movie, Clarice not only had to find the killer, but she also had to figure out WHY he was killing. In the book, Lecter just comes right out and tells her why he's killing these girls and that's one of the best plot points in the movie.

Forget the freaking Psycho shower scene. One of the creepiest scenes ever (more so in this book than in the movie) is the infamous/famous elevator scene somewhere in the middle. Well, I know that Thomas Harris has a talent for giving me a few more pieces of info than necessary for my health, but it's fantastically written and has an intriguing plot. Hannibal Lecter is one of the most unforgettable characters in all literature. Jame Gumb/Buffalo Bill/Billy Rupin was one of the most gruesome, and yet the noe part of the book that makes you want to keep reading. It's been chased after by censors time and time and time again, but no one can prtotect me or anyone else from this great book. Take care, everyone!

I really dont see how such a piece of crap could even be on the same list as Jurassic Park!

One of the greatest books ever written. Too bad it's sequel is one of the worst.

This book can be seen as the second part of Red Dragon. It is far from being as deep as the first, let alone as scary. I think that there were many details about Sterling's past that were irrelevant. I'm glad they omitted them in the movie.

This is the second greatest book I've ever read. The characters are ingenius and so real it's scary. The way they made Hannibal Lechter the good guy while still being the bad guy was remarkable. I'll recommend this book to anyone.

The book was hard and confusing. Rent the movie.

I think Silence of the Lambs is one of the most chilling & gripping reads in this category.
