The power of goodness is greater than the power of evil. When confronted with one who lies, truth is what will stop his lies. The honest man cannot be corrupted with bribes. Evil only seems strong because it is so noisy and clamorous but is really cowardly when confronted. If we resist the devil he will flee in the face of righteousness for he will have nothing else he can do. The devisings of the devil are such that unless one succumbs to his temptation he is powerless to do anything more. Goodness is the fruit that overcomes his devices and puts a stop to them. The breastplate of righteousness is part of the armor that God has given us that we might withstand the wiles of the enemy. We need not fear evil for it is of little strength when confronted with the power of God's goodness that we have available through the word of God.

 | Gentle Jude (23) 03/29/2005 | It is almost a bit like a paradox because without goodness, love and kindness wouldn't really exist, but true goodness springs from love. Because God is love, He hates hate of any type especially hatred towards Him and what He has created. God hates anything offensive or dirty. Goodness is about being clean (not having lustful, dirty thoughts and not having any malice or offence towards God in your mind), and being generally nice and wanting to please God. Goodness is such a positive fruit of the Spirit and it uplifts me. Especially with all the disasters in the world and the fact that it seems unfair that the innocent die, it can be hard to believe that God is a loving God. But the fruit of goodness shows us that God is good. If you want to be good, love the Lord with all your heart, then the other facets of goodness will fall into place. When ever you feel down, there is a statement wich if you think about it, will cheer you up. That is 'God is good, the devil is evil.'
