 | Mograce2U (4) 09/18/2005 | When I think of the people that have blessed me, those who are gentle and kind have impressed me most. Probably because they are least like me! God has taught me how to do this, but I am a work in progress for sure. I think of a child who is being bratty and disagreeable - does he really want to be this way? Hardly. The happy child is not like this, rather it is the unhappy one who really needs the hug. It is easy to be gentle and kind to a child or an animal because we know they are weak. What we need to learn is that we are ALL weak and in need of genuine comfort and care from another. God has been very very good to me (longsuffering) - it is the least I can do for another. But it is against my nature and I find I must put some effort into it to set my mind in the right place. Knowing that God places great value on a gentle and quiet spirit (1 Pet 3:4) helps me to keep my perspective in the right place.

 | Gentle Jude (23) 03/28/2005 | When ever I sense the presance of God, I initially feel two things - wisdom and gentleness. Gentleness is such a beautiful thing and it springs from love. Gentleness is not wanting to hurt anyone or anything and you will be as easy on a person as you can be. God will not be rude or rough to a person. Funny enough, there are some verses in the Bible which may not look very gentle eg God's anger at Israel and His constant threats of destruction and the way Jesus rebuked the Pharisees. But infact, God was being as gentle as He possible could because the Pharisees had such hard, evil spirits that they would have not responded to love. The Pharisees were very proud and religious and hated the idea of love, because Jesus had to remind the Phariseea a few times that God would rather mercy then sacrifice. So that was the only way Jesus could get through to them. With the Israelites, again God was very gentle with them because they were mean to God and did the very things which hurt God and they knowingly did it without any remorse. When ever God warned them of destruction, He would always give them a long period of time to repent eg a year and when ever God did punish them, He regretted it and would always make a promise to change them so He could bless them. God is very gentle and beautiful. A gentle person is also a secure person because rough people are mean and rough because they want to appear tough and want to be better then everyone so they can feel good, but a gentle person doesn't need to do that to feel secure. So in reality, it is actually the gentle, loving people who are the toughest people.
