He's a funny guy. The title is referring to his French class and his French teacher. Several of the stories are too funny.

"Me Talk Pretty One Day," a collection of essays about everyday life by David Sedaris, is a pretty enjoyable read. I don't appreciate sweet, cutesy stories, and I didn't have to worry about that with Sedaris' wicked sense of humor and talent for showcasing the bizarre. If you are easily offended by bad language or off-color situations, though, you should steer clear of this book. Sedaris is kind of raunchy at times, and definitely irreverent. Of course, that's why I thought "Me Talk Pretty One Day" was so funny!

It be's my favrit book this day...Many writers are observant. David Sedaris is special because he is observant and funny. Granted, I've heard nothing but acclaim for his work (both as author & orator) before I'd read any of it. But now, having experienced it, I concur wholeheartedly and feel that he deserves all the kudos. Get the audio versions of his books too while you're at it. They are an added dimension that shouldn't be excluded when experiencing all that is David Sedaris.

David Sedaris has done wonders with the everyday experience. He has the ability to take experiences that many people have and make them not only funny, but worth putting in a book. I am inspired to look closer at my own life -- what would he say about this. And I would go as far as to say that David Sedaris is the Mark Twain for our generation. Keep watching David; I'm reading -- and spreading the word...

Everything this guy writes is terrific. Irreverent would be an understatement.

Even though I didn't enjoy "Me Talk Pretty One Day" as much as "Barrel Fever" (his BEST) or "Naked," (also great), it's still better than most of the so-called "comedy" out there.

very rarely does a book have me laughing out loud. I laugh because it is strikingly familiar, yet outrageous at the same time. I find very often that I think the way he writes.

I loved this book. Everyone should read it. I devoured it for evey mention of David's talented sister, Amy Sedaris (of "Strangers With Candy")

This is one of the funniest books I've ever read. Probably David's best, which is saying a lot because I loved "Naked" and "Barrel Fever" so much. I can't wait to read what he writes next. Maybe a book about his computerphobia? That would be funny.

I recently finished this book. I read mostly commuting to and from work as well as before bed. I need to read something that is somewhat easy and light for the commute. This book was perfect. The author (David Sedaris) wrote this book about his life and it is written in first person. Sedaris knows what stories in his life to write about for his readers to understand his life. He is a good writer with a good sense of humor. The book simply goes through his life and how he got into writing. It is interesting since he didn't get into writing for a long long time eventhough he always tried so hard to be in the 'arts' but failed at all the outlets. He didn't even like to read that much. As I read this book, I didn't feel so bad that I haven't found my hidden talent yet...(whatever it may be). It is a really quick, easy, good read.
