 | MedgarEvers (14) 07/18/2006 | The year is 2006 and Willie Nelson is 73 years old, if my calculations are correct. He still sings more beautifully than most great singers. I mean it, this guy is a SINGER. I have been told that if one uses his/her singing voice correctly, he/she will never lose that voice quality, regardless of age. Willie Nelson is living proof. He has a wonderful sustained vibrato that makes you feel wonderful inside. I have seen him twice as part of the Bob Dylan Show tour, and he put on a show that stood up right against the main act (and that is saying a LOT). When I first saw Willie Nelson, he walked out with "Bring us your tired and weary..." ("Living In the Promised Land") and a great big flag of Texas dropped down. He makes direct connection with the audience, because he loves you if you are willing to love him. This is what music is about! His son Lucas is unbelievably hot and he plays guitar with him. It's Willie Nelson and the family band. And it is one of the best live acts you can see today. Believe it! When I think of Willie Nelson I don't think of a lazy old pothead, I think of a serious musician who knows what he's doing and has not given up!
