Not only a terrific hitter, but, more importantly, a principled human being. His refusal to stand during "God Bless America" throughout every game of the 2004 season (because he wished to protest the Iraq War) cost him a lost of criticism from stupid people, but it was an act of courage that will always endear him to me. His stand against the U.S. Air Force's use of the Vieques island in Puerto Rico as its bombing practice target also produced some good. His example should make other pro athletes realize the fact that because many fans, rightly or wrongly, love and respect them, they can create some change for the better in society. It's kind of sad that we have to get our politics from our athletes or our mainstream rock stars or whatever; but if we have to be followers, we should follow men like Mr. Delgado.

A very potent player and very important part of the Marlins.

Carlos, having recovered from an injury-plagued year is leading the Blue Jays in a GREAT ride. He and Vernon Wells, soon to become the BEST outfielder in the AL, are pushing the Jays to excel a year or two early. This is a GOOD team -- but June will tell the tale. If they are still close, they have a chance. After the horrible schedule they were given in APRIL [ most games against last years' best teams] they have recovered remarkably well.

So far leads in RBI and just seems to be an AL crusher. Look for him to stay off the DL...again.

great talent wasting away on a crappy team.

Delgado has put up stunning numbers this year. There may be a handful of players in the league better than him, but then again, you could argue that there isn't ANYBODY better than him - this year at least.

How can this guy be rated this low? He is an absolute superstar and is within striking range of the Triple Crown which no one has accomplished in over 30 years. He is also the consummate leader. He was named captain of the Blue Jays as a 26 year old, before he had really come into his own as a player. Toronto definitely made the right move when they decided to keep him and trade Shawn Green.
