Great player, but on the down side of career. Always been a little overrated.
sukrubosteppe 07/07/2007
Most CONSISTENT batter in baseball, and means as much to his team as any batter. In the 'roid age, his honest numbers should make him a first round ballot int the HOF. We'll see in ten years how the inflated numbers affect this well-deserving player. Holds many records (consecutive XBH, dual power ##, et.al.) that rarely get press. Superb player, and Sabermetric gurus and baseball afficionados appreciate his remarkable skills.

It's good to see Chipper so high on the list! He deserves it...one of the best third basemen of all time and a good hitter who can still belt a few out of the park
doobiesNhof 05/30/2006
Great player who has had way too many injuries in the last 3 years. His defensive skills have vastly improved at third base. He is also a team player because he has renegotiated his contract the last two years to enable the Braves to sign much needed players in a tightening payroll. How many other players would do that for their team?
Sandy Beech 10/18/2005
He always under performs in the playoffs.
MarthaMayI 10/10/2005
Larry! Larry! Another poor playoff series for Larry and the Braves. They should quit taking up a spot in the playoffs as they are pathetic underacheivers.
kingguiness 06/07/2005
A good player but clearly overrated.
dpostoskie 02/16/2005
Good switch hitter, last season was tough (.248 and more Ks than BB) considering his previous batting over .300 and walking more than striking out. He is showing a drop off and I doubt he'll ever get back to 2001 form.
katekat 09/13/2004
I feel guilty rating Chipper Jones so low as I don't have a particular reason NOT to like him, I just don't.
OneHungryMonst er 08/23/2004
Good, good player.

I would love to rate Chipper as great but I think that it rests more on his shoulders then Bobby Cox that they keep lossing in the Playoffs. His production has not been as good since joining the outfield. I think that he should be moved back to third base, or first. He is one of the most consistent run producers in baseball. He takes the walk instead of swinging at bad ones.
bravesgirl2005 02/03/2004
CHIPPER IS A GREAT BASEBALL PLAYER, HE IS A GREAT ROLE MODEL, AND GOOD WITH HIS FANS. HE'S THE BEST! HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE PLAYER.
Davina 06/28/2003
Aparently with Chipper, you either love him or hate him....I hate him, but anyone who can hit a little white ball with a stick of wood that far deserves SOME credit....he's an ok player, but doesn't do so well in the "jerk" department
the transgressors 06/05/2003
horrendous defense, declining power. What kind of superstar gets outshined by 5 starters in the same lineup(2003-Furcal, Giles, Sheffield, Andruw Jones, Javy Lopez)? Great Defense??? He holds a few defensive records--single season: fewest putouts by a third baseman in 150 or more games(77-in 1997)/fewest chances accepted by a 3rd baseman,150+ games(318)/fewest double plays by 3rd baseman,150+ games(10-1999)/fewest double plays by outfielder,150+ games(0-2002)/fewest assists by 3rd baseman 150+ games(238-1999)...good hitter, not an all-around player. 9 postseason errors(highlighted by a .929 cumulitive division series fielding %.

BassHawg 03/03/2003
great player but I don't even think he's the best 3rd baseman....yet alone the best overall player.
CLAUDIO 01/03/2003
less than zero
eurika 10/29/2001
He is, of course, one of the best hitters in the game. No on gets on base for him, yet he still gets 102 RBIs this year really says something about his hitting abilites. In the history of great third basemen, it just amazes me that Chipper Jones, baseballs most underrated player, got 6 straight 100 RBI sesons. No other 3rd basemen ever achieved this feat. And people, he is only in his late 20s.
TheFreak 09/06/2001
Ahhhhh, he's a pretty good player even if he is a jerk, and he's much less of a jerk than some people I could mention. When I rate baseball player, I rate them on how good they play, not on their personalities, and Chipper plays an OK game. What he did with a Hooters waitress does not effect his game. So three stars
mookyj 08/02/2001
He is a Met killer and you got to love him for that!
mundanenight 07/02/2001
Chipper Jones is a great althelete and now, at last, is a superb role model for youth. His recent renunciation of smokeless tobacco puts him immediately into a far more important "Hall of Fame." My Indepedence Day from tobacco occurred 18 years ago on July 9. Paul - Pleasant Hill, CA

I think Chipper Jones has contributed to a lot of the wins that the Braves have accomplished. He is great at both defense and offense. Also, hes great from both sides of the plate. AND for all you other girls out there who put comments about how he looks good....you shouldnt. He is not a piece of meat. He is a great baseball player.
ashley_10 07/01/2001
i think chipper is great and he is in my opion the best third baseman in the NL and i hope everyone feels the same way.
softballchick2 003 04/17/2001
Come on guys how can you not love Chipper?! He is a kick-a$$ 3rd baseman, a rolemodel, and my vote for the playgirl of the month. He is the original mouth of the south and should be vice president to John Rocker.
koolsax 03/14/2001
Chipper is great. He can hit. He can throw. He can field. He can do it all. One of the best players in baseball. O and dspr what did he do to be a jerk??? Let me know at koolsax@yahoo.com
OCUAXO 02/01/2001
Okay I have been a Braves fan for I do not know how long and I have also been a Chipper Jones fan for the longest. I do believe that the third baseman is the most important player when it comes to strength and willness. I do belive that Chipper Jones has those two abilities and will continue to have those tow abilities beyond retirement. Chipper Jones is the best third basemen that I have seen in all of my years of watching professional baseball.
chipperrulz 01/30/2001
i think chipper is going to lead the braves to the world series this year.he should also be voted mvp.i am his biggest fan rock on!
braves_chick 11/10/2000
Chipper is a great athlete with lots more success to come.
Munson 06/11/2000
Chipper is a great player. He absolutely carried the Braves last year when he was the only dangerous player in the lineup (particularly, when Brian Jordan was hurt). He is equally dangerous from both sides of the plate and is a great athlete (he came up through the Braves farm system as a SS).
saz@749om 04/27/2000
As I said with A-Rod-- I believe the best at each position deserves a five--- so Chipper gets one two. Would really rather give him a 4.5 but since I can't he gets the five.
gte43772du 01/24/2000
Chipper Jones should be MVP of the National League.
kool1960om 11/29/1999
great hitter. has power from both sides of the plate. having great season in '99. Should win MVP NL '99
GTE01484DU 11/23/1999
Should be MVP this year. Lead Braves down the stretch with a sweep of the Mets.
GTE31175DU 11/13/1999
Chipper Jones is the man. He will carry the Braves to the World Series.
dspr460om 11/01/1999
Great player, but a real jerk.

Chipper Jones should become the MVP in the National League
