This would work if 1.) the family lived in California and 2.) California had a bunch of wildfires during that season.

Anyone who loses their home in a wildfire deserves my sympathy but media-wise, it's overdone.

It's just not Christmas unless some poor family losses everything and the community pulls together and sends them boxes of crap that they were going to give to the Sally-Anne so that they could get a feeling of charity by the simple act of getting rid of their garbage.  It gets....me.....right.....here....... *sob*

unfortunately there are still fires at holiday time. a lot of the time the Christmas tree caught fire. and sometimes lives are lost. always sad but really awful at this time of year.
