The father/uncle who claims the big train set is "for the kids" when it's really for him.

Another thing commonly seen around Christmas.

A father's prerogative is to play with all the cool toys before the kids break them or lose some parts. Its the Christmas equivalent of Droit de Seigneur

Grown men + one Lionel train set = grown men acting like kids.  However, it's an interesting (and safe) hobby for them to dabble with.

It seems the kids play with these things for about five minutes, and it isn't long before their attention span turns to their candy canes and their well-watched DVD of "Frosty the Snowman". Watch and observe as the adult men of the house get younger before your eyes.
