In the future Walmart will have to set up machine gun nests to keep order. I would think that a Ma Deuce (Browning M2 .50 Cal. machine gun) with a few short bursts could keep the crowd at bay. I am retired, and I voluteer for any local Walmart that will have me.
It will be a new type of gray-haired Walmart greeter.

People were pissed that they had to leave because they waited outside all night long so that they could be first in line for the sales. When told that someone was killed they didn't care. I thought about this and the people's mind must have have been so focused on that outcome, their need and desire for cheap gifts for their family/poor economic times that they just weren't thinking clearly. I'd hate to think that Wal-Mart shoppers are ordinarily this void of feelings.

This is a sad story. Who would trample another person to get their hands on cheap imported goods? Do people still value human life? I guess not.

Maybe not a big story in the overall scheme of things but a pretty repellent one. How desperate can people be to save a couple of bucks that this crap is necessary to them. And while some of this can be termed mob mind, and the folks at the back wouldn't know what was going on, it is worth noting that after police and emergency services workers arrived and were trying to help the downed man, eager shoppers jostled and knocked them over until police established a cordon.
When I read this, I couldn't help remembering Kitty Genovese....

I'm not a particularly religious fellow but I believe that this is a sign of the apocalypse.
