Just to add one more note to all these glowing reviews - this is the first computer I've had that I could comfortably work while lying down on the couch. Only complaint is that the documentation is mostly missing, even for initial start-up.

After spending weeks researching netbooks I decided on the MSI Wind. It is everything I hoped it would be. Small, but very viewable. The keyboard does take some getting used to but for a netbook I have no problem with it. The 6 cell battery is awesome. I can easily get 5 hours without using the power saving mode. I use the netbook at work, in the carpool, and traveling and it is perfect!

This had been a perfect and lovely machine has good size, weight, long time battery and so on until last weekend when I found the bluetooth not working. According to the manual, the blue LED showing bluetooth activity should be turnned on if I pressed Fn+F11 keys. But it didn't. When I ran the bluetooth control program, it just kept saying that try again after turning on bluetooth device even though the device was shown working properly in control pannel. I tried to find the reason and answer of the problem, but I couldn't. I just found some other guys also have same problem in the MSI forum, but there was not the answer either. I updated the BIOS, re-installed the bluetooth driver, but still I cannot turn it on. I really want to ask other guys of you. Am I the only one having this problem? Did I just got a thing out of work unfortunately? Then I would return and take new one without the problem or keep it just ignoring the problem (because it is not so big deal for me actually). But I'm not sure. Couldn't it be just my fault kind of not knowing how to use bluetooth or turn it on? If it is, please someone tell me the way.

Notice the number of reviewers who mention 2-3 other net books they've owned. Makes you wonder how much real work they're getting done with the machines, which are still somewhat of a novelty item, subject to radical changes every other month. All the more reason to stay within the $400 range. I had the 8.9" Acer Aspire and realized it was simply too small a screen--ridiculously so with all the tool bars and programs you're encouraged to add, leaving just enough space at the bottom of the screen for a skinny cat to crawl through. For $20 more, the MSI Wind is worth it, if for the screen size alone (an extra 1.1"), and the keyboard strikes me as slightly more conventional, or companionable, than the Acer's. If you wish to go for a 10.2" screen, take a look at the new Samsung, but be prepared for a disproportionate mark-up in price. In fact, at this point I'm content to wait and see what Apple can do about bringing down the price of its Macbook Airs (solid state models). There's also talk that Apple may have a fling at a net book of its own in the 10"-11" range. If so, I would expect screen graphics, the resourceful use of screen space, and keyboard ergonomics to set a new standard, easily justifying prices higher than $400-$500. If you need a compact, inexpensive model now, the Wind gets my vote. But even though it runs and even feels much like its big brothers and sisters, don't be deceived. Operating MS Word with any of these pint-sized models is a bit like trying to get a Lincoln Town Car up to speed with a Mini-Cooper engine.

I had no problems starting & using the msi wind. It's battery is lasting about 4 1/2 hours. The screen is easy to read. The manual is located on one of two cd's that come with it.
