One of my grandmothers made this every Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I only started to appreciate it a short time before she was unable to cook any longer. Since other favorite family dishes were being introduced to the day, her pudding faded away for several years. Then, one day a few years ago, I found a yellowed piece of paper with two versions of the recipe in her hand writing. It's a very simple and tasty addition to the holiday menu and is great with hard sauce, whip cream or even Cool Whip (I used the French Vanilla flavor this year which was excellent!). There are several recipes on the Internet. All involve basically the same ingredients (persimmon pulp, sugar, flour, eggs, and milk) and process (baking and stirring) though some suggest additional ingredients. Personally, I'd keep it simple - especially if you make it for a holiday meal - because it makes a somewhat less rich dessert after all the other food. Another thing - don't expect this to look like the smooth pudding you may be use to seeing; it has more of a brownish clumpy bread look and is even a little bit chewy.
