I bought this instrument after reading that it was a "best buy" as according to Consumer Reports. Well, this tool is extremely heavy, bulky, hard to maneuver, terrible on stairs, and chips cracks and wears out after only 2 years. We just invested in the Dyson Ball, and there is a night and day difference. The light weight ball is handy, agile, and convenient. The Eureka has moved in to the guest bedroom upstairs and will only come out on occasion, and maybe to clean out the fireplace. Sorry Eureka, the Dyson is a better product all around.

This sweeper does an excellent job of cleaning, but it is extremely heavy and extremely noisy. I would choose another vacuum - I plan to keep it a couple of years and then replace.

This is one of the best vacuum cleaners I ever owned. The price was affordable and the shipment was quick. Thank you.

This is my second time to buy this model. My first one is 2 years old and going strong. We have replaced the belt on the first one a few months ago. I needed a second vacuum for our vacation home. I am happy with the suction (much better than the bagless models) and the attachments are great.

I bought this vacuum on the recommendation of a major consumer product review organization; while two vacuums had higher ratings, this one cost about half as much. For the most part, I am glad I did not spend the extra money. First and foremost, it has adequate power for the job and the rotary beaters are efficient. I had used an old Hoover for over 12 years and thought I was getting my carpet clean, I was deluded. The difference in the looks of the carpet was immediately apparent. The Eureka was far more effective. Secondly, it is clean. It uses a traditional replaceable bag to collect dust but has a HEPA filter over the exhaust port to collect fine particulate. There was no fine dust in the air or dust smell. The accessories mount on the body of the vacuum, but while convenient they are not completely secured. The brush falls off occasionally. It is very easy to shift from floor cleaning to the hose attachments; you simply turn the handle of a valve on the upper body of the vacuum. The extensions are long enough to reach an 11 ft ceiling. Shifting to different carpet pile heights is also easy and convenient. The consumer organization gave two reasons for not giving this vacuum a top rating. First they said it was not the as easy to maneuver as it might be. This is true; other vacuums are easier to shove about and this one is not power assisted. They also dinged it for being noisier than the two more expensive vacuums. While this is probably true, after the ol' Hoover I was delighted at how quite it was. Also making it quieter would affect the price. The plastic of the body could be a bit more rugged but again this would increase the price. My home is small; if you really spend a lot of time behind a vacuum, you probably want to spend a bit more. This lack of rugged construction probably explains the huge variability in the product reviews. Caveat emptor - the instructions advise calling Eureka customer service and NOT taking the machine back to the place where you purchased it if it is defective. This could be a problem. And - some assembly required. All-in-all, good vacuum, value for money.
