I have been a long time Nora Roberts reader, but this trilogy has not been very good, and this last book in the trilogy is just plain bad. My two favorite characters in the series have been Quinn and Gage, so I was hoping NR would redeem herself by giving Gage a good story. Didn't happen. I have never had to skim a NR book, but I did this one. Thankfully I read the series from the library, so I'm only out time, and not money.

I am a huge Nora Roberts fan. I was hooked since the first book in the series - Blood Brothers. The Hollow was slightly off, and not as engaging as the first book, but the third book was amazing. Yes, it did have a lot of cliches employed to drive the story, but overall, the book was amazing. I simply fell in love with Gage. The chemistry between Gage and Cybil was great. I must say however, that the climax of the series, which was the arrival of the Seven that they had been anxiously awaiting for months was terrible. There was more build up and anxiety as the Seven approached and from the beginning of the series than when it actually arrived. I felt it was a letdown, but I still enjoyed the book. The evil dude that created so much terror and mayhem, turned out to be an evil dud.

I have read, and loved, several of Nora's books before I found this trilogy. My first love is paranormal romance, so when I saw that one of my favorite romance authors was writing in my most favorite genre, I was ecstatic. I immediately bought all 3 books. WOW. What a shocking waste of money. To much blah, blah, blah talking about every single minute detail of the research about this thing (not alot to go on about this demon/power/thing) but very little details about the actual people and relationships and romance. The paranormal parts were so broken and disjointed that it was hard to follow at times. This book really was quite easy to put down. It was sooooo boring, and the plot was sub-standard at best. I really don't advise anyone waste their time reading this trash, but if you must, please read it for free at the library. Don't waste you money on it. You'll regret it as I do.

Where was the romance? The "overcoming evil" story line wasn't just the background for the romance, it was all we read about. On, and on about paranormal this, tarot cards that. My eyes were glazing over. Usually Nora writes her romance characters so full and believable but this trilogy was bad, with Cybil and Gage being the worst. I didn't like Cybil at all, I'm mean, the night before Gage gets practically eaten by this evil (whatever it is) and Cybil won't even make him a cup of coffee in the morning. Ok...and I'll say it. The sex scene (I think there was one) was so lack-luster. Geeze. Seems like her older books were full of romance, romance, romance, but now she seems to write these suspense novels, that have a little romance thrown in. Nora, if I wanted to read suspense, I'll pick up Stephen King. If you are reading this review and haven't purchased the book yet, don't waste your money...get it from the Library if you feel like you need to have the ending to the story, but really I skimmed through the final chapters. Boring! MY RATING SYSTEM: 5 Stars - Outstanding, couldn't put down the book, couldn't forget the characters, definitely will re-read and search for more titles by same author 4 Stars - Great, liked it, well written, more than likely will re-read 3 Stars - Good, maybe slow or confusing in parts but a satisfying finish 2 Stars - Too slow or confusing, skimmed over parts, the two stars would be for a unique character or situation 1 Star - Finished the book, but left unsatisfied at the end No Stars - Book too awful - couldn't even finish

While I've read many books by this Author, "The Cirle Trilogy" and now this "Sign of the Seven" series are by far her best. I had to wait too long to read the third and have take an oath that from now on I'm not starting anything unless I have all of the set. I'm sure I would have enjoyed this last installment more if I had done that.I was disappointed that she spent useless time on the development of the last couple and found that their reactions were a little unrealistic for their natures. In any event I was glad that all worked out the way it did in the end and I really enjoyed the read.
