This is such a disappointment. I, like all of you, used the Charmin Plus with Aloe for years. I thought it was the best. Then it just disappeared from the shelves leaving us with no suitable substitute. So I went on the basis of similarity and bought Cottonelle with Aloe. Talk about cheap. This stuff breaks so easily in use, crumples, rolls and tears against your backside. I gave us and dumped the remainder. So I bought the new Charmin Plus and it's the same as the Cottonelle. I share the cynical view that it's all a corporate move to increase profit margin. Protesters should carry placards reading, "Please don't squeeze the customer" and address all their complaints to Mr Whipple, care of P&G...he always seemed like an honest fellow, unlike the corporation he hawked for.

See my original post on this topic on 8/22/09....I am almost out of stock with the "old" Charmin Plus with Aloe and am now looking to see what will work for me. The "new" Charmin Plus is awful.,... So, what are you ladies and gentleman switching to? please let me know as I have used Charmin Plus since it was introduced to the market.

Let me be really clear . . . The new 2-ply version is pretty bad. The original single ply tissue was excellent. I thought I was having a "senior moment", or senior month, or something when it finally dawned on me that it wasn't me . . . it was the toilet paper! This Faux Charmin Plus is a grainy two ply that breaks, flakes, lints, floats and just doesn't measure up.I've done all the politically correct stuff, e-mailing P&G, calling Customer Service, etc., etc., - I wonder if picketing the plant in Cincinnati would help? All the sources I could find for the original product online have dried up, so I guess I'll just have to start searching for a good alternative. The last time I was this upset about a product is when Warner's discontinued my favorite underwear!

I personally feel like the new Charmin Plus is not worth a CRAP!!!! It is in no way comparable to the original Charmin Plus Aloe. I remember when the Coca cola company thought they had a great idea and called it the NEW Coke. I now drink Pepsi! Please re-evaluate your new Charmin Plus idea. It really chaps my ass that you changed it and I think you should wipe it out and flush it down the toilet as soon as possible. BRING BACK THE OLD CHARMIN PLUS. IT WAS THE BEST!!!!!! Thank you if you do and damn you if you don't!

The single ply has now been discontinued! It is now offered in a 2 ply, but it is not the same. Call P&G and tell them that they have made a mistake. I will search for all remaining 1 ply stock piles available. Damn you P&G!And yes, the single ply was by far the best TP ever made. I have used it for probably a decade or better.

New Charmin Plus is ruined. Two plys, rougher, thicker, and is NOT absorbant. This used to be the best on the market, now it's just another two ply. Won't buy it again.YOU SCREWED IT UP, P&G !

I don't know what you guys did to this product , but when you added vitamin e to it plus shrunk the roll you lost us as a customer . This stuff just floats and when it does flush you get paper particles coming back into the basin. When you had just Aloe Vera in it , it was just fine and the rolls were quite large. So I guess Charmin is like the rest of the industry today , shrink the size and pay more for less. Get your act together.Mrs. E Hewett

FIVE STARS BASED ON WHAT WAS ONLY....NEW FORMULA IS NOT EVEN CLOSE!Hold everything...STOP THE TOILET PAPER PRESSES...P&G changed the formula? Now my rolls are smaller, two ply paper, balling up and breaking everybody's poop shoot out and...need I say more? This stuff is not even absorbent anymore and it floats on water like a boat. Only P&G would take the best TP on the market and ruin it. P&G, the competition thanks you since they never had a product that even came close. Charmin plus was the gold standard in the industry and now P&G has helped the competition by lowering the bar. I would have paid much more for the old formula than what is currently being sold without question. Mr. Whipple, Mr. Whipple come back Mr. Whipple...they messed with your Charmin!

I thought I would share something funny. When P & G replaced the old, wonderful Charmin Plus with the wretched product featured here, I went to the Charmin site and there were about 40 reviews all saying the same thing--that the new Charmin was awful--and begging for P & G to bring back the old product. Now when you go to the Charmin site you can't look at the reviews anymore--they have been removed! If you have questions about whether this product is good or not--that says it all--P & G won't even put the reviews up anymore because people hated this product so much. Now, I want to be fair--is the new Charmin Plus Lotion the worst TP I have ever used? Not by a long shot. But, it tears when you try to use it (leaving your fingers less than clean) and balls up on your behind (who wants that?). It is not as soft as the old one-ply product and it is still very expensive compared to other TP options on the market. In fact, when P & G changed the product, they reduced the amount that you get in a package but kept the price the same (typical of corporate America, right?) So, I guess what I'm saying is the new Charmin Plus Lotion is nothing but average but it comes at an above average cost to you, the consumer. Why buy less for more? And that's exactly what you will be doing if you purchase this product.

I only used Charmin with lotion for years...it was the best I had ever found. But the last two packages have been less than good. The paper doesn't flush and it shreds or the plies come apart when tearing from the roll or when using. I am now in the process of finding a new brand after all these years.

I am in utter shock - I knew that my Husband and Kids bought the wrong package - and thought to myself, okay - I will go to the store and get a new package...last night - I used the new roll for the first time and I was so upset...I had a feeling they discontinued the product - AND, to my dismay, after a specialized Google search, I found this webpage - AND - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE NUMBER - SINCE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND....Anyhow, I just called - I strongly suggest that everyone calls and complains...I cannot believe this - there is no other toilet paper like this!!

Proctor and Gamble have changed the type of paper for Charmin Plus and it's crappy!! Just like the other Charmin's that flake off on you when used. That particular Charmin was the best toilet paper made! It was perfect in softness and durability. A true quality product which is hard to get from ME generation corporate these days. It's all about the bottom line and nothing else! There destroying everything with their greed!! There wasn't any company around that beat the quality of the original Charmin plus toilet paper. They need to pull this current crap off the market ASAP! and bring back the original 100%. And forget about the lotion. The Aloe and Vitamin E is perfect!!

This product is the premier one on the market. There's no comparison with other brands/types . Like "Job Squad" paper towels, this one is simply the very best in its category.

When my local store quit selling this brand, I contacted P&G to find other stores that carried it. Also, wanted to make sure this was not being dicontinued. The Best!!!

I have used charmin for years. After using this product, you won't be too happy using any other. I can't stand using cheap toilet paper. Charmin has me spoiled. It is so soft. Very worth the money.
B.C.D. 10/30/2008
This is the finest toilet paper known to man. It is strong yet soft; smooth yet not overly moist. Buy a pack of this stuff, and you'll never go back to "regular" TPs. (And don't confuse this with Cottonelle's "Aloe & E" -- Charmin Plus is far, far superior.)
RealDreamer 09/07/2008
This is the best toilet paper I've ever used. It's strong but so gentle that I find any other toilet paper rough and tough on my exit arena. I got hooked on it when Walmart sold it for awhile, but now I can't find it in any brick and mortar, not anywhere but Amazon... If only it didn't cost so much (it cost about $1.00 per roll). The price is close to what Walmart charged when it was available there so I just hope the price stays reasonable.

Charmin Bathroom Tissue Plus a Touch of Lotion and Aloe is a wonderful product. Soft to the sensitive areas, never irritating. The large single-ply rolls last longer, no need for frequent roll changing. Thanks to Amazon, I save money on this product, and it is shipped free to my front door.
UncleMike 07/11/2008
I'm not going to wax poetic about this toilet paper. I'm just going to say it's the perfect combination of strength and softness.
