Dr.Suess always had the talent for coming up with such imaginative books. The Cat In The Hat was one of the first read by myself books as a child. A charming tale about a Huge cat that can talk and comes to visit a brother and sister left alone while mom is out shopping. He causes all kinds os trouble and makes a mess of the house. A very cute book where Dr. Suess comes up with all his unusual characters the cat brings with him. I bet most people have heard of the Cat In The Hat. I imagine it has been translated into a lot of different languages.

This one isn't quite up to par with "The Thinks You Can Think," but this one is very creative, also. I was always so worried about the huge mess the cat made but amazed at the drawings of contraptions and creatures. I'm telling you, my life wouldn't be the same of not for Dr. Seuss...

I've always felt that the off the wall humor of Dr. Suess either inspired in some way or at least foreshadowed the more biting comedy that began to appear in the later in the '60's and '70's. You can't deny that more than a few of us Baby Boomers cut our satirical teeth on stories like "The Cat in the Hat". The cat was rude, destructive, and fairly rebellious - and we loved it. I don't mean to say these stories were not wholesome - I personally love them and still do. It's just that occasionally, just underneath the lilt of the rhyme, the humor had a slight edge to it.

I enjoyed this book when I was a child, and now that I am a parent I enjoy reading it to my daughter.

I LOVE the Cat in the Hat! I like almost all of Dr. Seuss' books, but this is one of my favorites. I love the fish in the bowl, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and just about everything else about this book. After reading it to my duaghters, I find myself talking in verse.
