This thing can really bog down your computer. Check "Windows Task Manager" and you will see Spy Doctor's pvtsSvc.exe program pushing the CPU usage to 100% a lot of the time.

I haven't had issues with this product. I use Spyware Doctor, Registry Mechanic and Kaspersky Anti Virus on a Windows Vista PC. At one point Kaspersky Anti Virus was attacked and disabled the program completely, but Spyware Doctor was able to catch it from causing any further damage to my computer. Not sure why people are having issues with the program? I'm sure it has it's flaws...I used to use Norton and McAfee but those slowed down my computer.

I had used the free version before (a long time ago) and found that it was a really effective spyware remover, and I was recently looking to find a new anti-spyware as well as an anti-vorus software since I didn't had any; and I ended up with Spyware Doctor With Antivirus. I also installed their free firewall, which is a whole different story (you have to disable it whenever you want to run certain programs, or your computer will freeze up). On the first reboot of the computer, the computer first slowed down a lot - and then when I tried to stop some system processes; the computer froze up completely. I thought it might be the firewall or the Threatfire that was causing it, and I had to boot up in safety mode in order to uninstall them. PC Tools Spyware Doctor also runs in safety mode by the way... while I was in safety mode, I also deactivated Spyware Doctor so that it wouldn't load on start up. Threatfire and the firewall weren't the cause of it. I attempted to uninstall Spyware Doctor (using Revo Uninstaller), but apparently - even though Spyware Doctor was completely disabled from running - it still had a process running in the background. Once again, the computer froze. After multiple reboots and attempts of simply ENDING the process - I had to boot up in safety mode once more in order to uninstall it. The scanner and spyware remover alone are really great, but uh.. what's the point of having a software that you can't even run? I've e-mailed their support desk and asked for a full refund. I used the program for less than a day, this is rediculous. The quest for the perfect anti-spyware and anti-virus continues. PS. I want a zero star option. PPS. I really regret not reading these reviews before wasting money on it.

I have never bought any product from PC tools BUT a 360 dollar charge showed up on my debit card with no warning at all. Now I have to spend a week getting a new card and take a hit to my credit as it caused my account to overdraft. I hate these people and will never buy a product from them.

Spyware Doctor has had glowing reviews, so I tried it. On my computer it runs flawlessly. No slowdown at all. On my suggestion, five other people bought it and all--that is every one of them--had their computers slow down so much that they almost seemed locked. Click an icon and a minute or so later, it responds. I could hardly believe it. I checked all five, and all had the same problem. Enable "Intelligard" and you are walking in frozen molasses. Turn off Intelligard, and you're running again. I searched their forum and found numerous complaints but no solutions. It looks to me like there are five to one odds that this program will hurt more than it helps. I have to say thumbs down!
