I've always been a proud owner and religious buyer of Viewsonic monitors. After good experience with a Samsung plasma television, I decided to try a monitor as well. Im definitely happy with the image quality of the 2253BW in all aspects. I am a gamer and a student and I like to watch movies on my computer so it gets a lot of use in a wide variety of applications. The images are fast, dont streak or blur, and the colors are true and vivid. My only problem is the horrible stand. Ive never owned a monitor that was so limited. The 2253BW sits very low so I had to prop it up on a Science book because there is NO HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT! Had I known about this when shopping, this would have been a deal-breaker for sure. Also, it does not pivot at all either. Since Im stuck with this ergonomic nightmare, I will still enjoy the quality screen.

I bought this to replace a 19" LCD and am happy with it. It required a fair amount of tweaking as it was VERY bright and VERY blue out of the box. It was easy enough to correct using my video driver, but no other monitor I have used required so much adjustment. I was actually afraid something was wrong with it, it was so off. I have an older video card so full screen video does still ghost a little, but smaller video is fine, so I don't think it's the monitor. Both text and images look great and are very sharp. The only complaint I have is that the viewing angle is VERY narrow. Sitting at my desk it looks great, but if I stand up in front of the monitor the color shifts dramatically and washes out. It does the same thing side to side. My previous Samsung monitor had a much wider viewing angle. Other than the narrow viewing angle it's a great monitor with plenty of room to keep multiple windows open at once and still have them be readable.

I looked at monitors for nearly a year before purchasing the 2253bw and tested many models in stores. Most displays seemed difficult to read across the entire surface or had rather unnatural color rendering, including the highly rated HP hardware. I mostly just wanted clear, crisp text at small font sizes anywhere on the screen. This unit is very impressive and delivers a beautiful display in an attractive package. I used the DVI-I cable (that was included) and the default NVidia driver software operating under Windows Vista (matched to the native screen resolution). Similarly, the included stand works fine for me and the tilt adjustment is somewhat important for the best viewing experience. In my environment I have no issue with reflected light or edge bleed, the illumination seems adequately uniform across the entire surface, and there were no stuck pixels. My only caveat would be that the `out of the box' display settings were pretty terrible (set to way too high intens... Read more
