Few years before i had sr60 and they amazed me, very confy and gread sound. So i got the sr80 and they are just as same as sr60. Sound is great only when you turn it the volume they start to lose the quality and make weird noize. So keep it low and enjoy the music!

I've had a pair of SR80's for just under 2 years now and they've fallen apart. First I had a wire break inside of the tubing, causing a loss of sound in one side. Now the ear pads are deteriorating, leaving foam bits all over my face. They were great well they lasted. Best sound quality I've ever gotten from headphones, but now I have to find something more durable. I can't afford to spend $100 on a pair of headphones that don't last 2 years, nor can I afford to have them repaired for $50+ every year and a half. The warranty on these is 1 year.

Although I have been an audiophile for years, I have never managed to get into the headphone thing. I found that kind of listening too claustrophobic. When I bought a decent mp3 player and loaded it up with a few thousand WMA tracks, I thought it time to try again. A cheap pair of phones sounded reasonable and when coupled with a CMOY portable headphone amp, I thought the experience not bad at all. However, if you are an audiophile, you know you can't just stop there, so I upgraded the headphone amp and treated myself to the SR-80's. Now I'm totally hooked. The music is so pristine, well balanced and involving, that I'm hearing things I had never heard before even on my home reference system. Considering the music is mostly 192kbps WMA, I'm am totally amazed. If you can afford it, I would recommend adding a portable headphone amp to your player to bypass the internal headphone amp. It will really make the Grados shine even more. The soundstage will open up, the bass will become fuller... Read more

I did a lot of research on high quality, reasonably priced headphones and the Grado SR80's kept coming up. For the price I paid (around $90) I felt I didn't have much to loose. Boy am I glad I went ahead with the purchase. The sound from these headphones is outstanding. It was fun to watch the expression on my children's faces when they tried them out for the first time. Pure wonderment!!! They were use to the cheap little ear buds that came with their ipods and for the first time experienced music the way it was suppose to be. Excellent highs, very good bass and just an all around full-musical sound. It's nearly as good as a live performance. Another benefit you get with these headphones is the confidence that if used by your children with their ipods, they can't listen too loudly as these phones require a fair amount of power to drive them and these little personal music devices just can't drive the volume too loud. Don't get me wrong, it is plenty loud enough to hear everything, and... Read more

These things are the real deal. Anyone who has ever listened to mine agrees. Pretty much everyone here does. Every range is represented fully and the best word I've heard used here to describe the sound is "spacial". The are open ear design has its pro's and con's but for the house it's great. I can listen to my music but if my lady what's me to listen to something on the TV or get my attention ... I can just divert my ears to whatever is going on. Are they uncomfortable ... yeah ... a little ... if you have ears that rest close to your head ... you shouldn't have any problems ... but the pads aren't super deep and if the hard cartligy "C" part of your ear makes contact with the plastic speaker grill. It can irritate. I still wear them for hours on end. Would I buy them again? ... Yes! ... Definitely! ... They ARE incredible! and also a great value. Don't hesitate if you love music .. or video games ... they really get it done.
