Ugh...this movie could have been so promising. The graphics are really pleasing to watch. I wish they could have developed the aliens and the iron man lookalike machine more. but instead, we just have keanu reeves representin' the life out there. the kid is a good actor, but can a child be so disobeying and unappreciative of sweet jennifer connelly's love? everything could have been done better! The movie could have been longer. and the ending...way abrupt. a disappointing movie.

This is time I'll never get back.

I only have three things to say about this re-make. First, it has the supposed advantage of modern film-making technology, which allows departures from the classic original. Unnecessary departures.

Second, is Keanu Reeves...the Master of Minimalistic Actors. On one hand, he was painfully dreadful. On the other hand, he took direction well, if the director's instruction was not to act. A cardboard cut-out would have saved the producers millions. I'm serious. Reeves' presence was unnecessary.

Third, was the robot, whose fate was never resolved after being captured, lowered into a deep pit and left there while the rest of the global invaders went back to where ever they came from.

The vast majority of remakes do not stand on their own merits and this is no exception. World hunger could be solved if everyone sent their price of admission, or DVD rental to a charity...
