Silverstein is soooooo very over-rated. His stuff is worse than okay, its tired and boring.

This may look just like a children's book, but it is a book that can be enjoyed by everyone. Lots of small poems that are great for before bed stories.

If you love poetry you'll love the way Shel Silverstein puts poetry into motion, not only for children but also for adults to enjoy. This is a very great book and my family enjoys it over and over. Relates to a lot of things you do in life but in a funny way.

Being 18, I was once a child, and I LOVED this book. I would read the poems over and over. This book gave me inspiration for my first piece of memorization. Shel Silverstein is an amazing writer. The simple illustrations only add to the enjoyment. I know I will want my children to be familiar with this author and his work.

"Where the Sidewalk Ends," a collection of hilarious, wildly creative poetry by Shel Silverstein, should be on every child's bookshelf. Silverstein was one of the first children's poets to break all of the rules, and that's one of the reasons why children have been drawn to his work for over 25 years. For example, nosepicking and underwear, topics children generally discuss only in whispers, are joked about freely by Silverstein. He also had a wonderful sense of the absurd, as seen in "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage Out" and "Sick," in which a child develops an impressive array of unusual illnesses before realizing it's Saturday, not a school day). I used to teach second grade, and Shel Silverstein was one of my students' favorite authors. Our school librarian once told me that she had to replace Shel Silverstein's books more than those of any other author because they got so much wear and tear. If you had the misfortune of missing Shel Silverstein's work when you were growing up, get a copy of "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and read it to a child. I guarantee you'll enjoy it, too!

The poems are funny and creative. The one about being sick in bed is my favorite (I forget the actual title). I think every kid should have a copy of Where the Sidewalk Ends in there book shelves.

I thought this was pretty over-rated when I was a kid.

I loved these as a kid, but I read them to a nephew recently, and after a while they started to get kind of annoying. My nephew disagreed.
