red jellybean I love this book! It helps you to recognize witches. When the Grandhi Witch takes off her mask, her face is very ugly!! I definitely recommend it to 2nd graders who like scary stories!

Witches (Roald Dahl) 5

This was one of my favorite books as a kid. It was one of the first books to take me in so completely that I was totally immersed in the world of the book. I was genuinely scared when reading it for the first time. It is exactly the kind of fantasy that kids love - close enough to their own reality to make it believable. Really sensitive kids probably shouldn't read it until they're older, but if your kid isn't that prone to nightmares, this is the book for them! (Adults should read it too. It's a quick read - only a couple of hours. And completely worth it!)

The Witches is another one of Roald Dahl's great stories for children. It is imaginative, a bit slow at some points, and may be too gothic for little ones, but The Witches can still be an extremly winning story.

Roald Dahl's modern day fairy tale, "The Witches," is absolutely irresistible. The story revolves around a young boy who finds out that witches really do exist, and then he goes on a crusade to stop them. The story is very exciting from beginning to end, especially the scenes in which the young boy is plotting against the witches, and there is also a lot of humor. In one of my favorite scenes, the young boy has to tell his friend's parents that their son has been turned into a mouse. The parents don't take the news well, and what ensues is riotously funny. I read this book aloud to at least seven classes of second-graders over the years, and they always begged me to keep reading.
