If you saw this on a rack in a five&dime store, you wouldn't pay more than $3 or $4 for it.
That said, is is not cheap plastic junk -- it's all metal, except the flip-out 'hangers' and rubber feet. It could possibly hold a 20 x 27 board - maybe even bigger - as long as the ceiling fan's off. It's actually 13 3/4" standing, 9 1/2" between the legs.
There's not much to it, but maybe that's what you want for travel & table-top presentation.

This is a very nice easle for tabletop work. It is lightweight and folds up as small as I think is possible.
