I am not sure why this has to happen, but the teeth break off on these brush irons. This is especially bad because I have not found a way to purchase replacements. In 2 months of daily use, ~10% of the teeth have broken-off. Otherwise, this is a very useful tool if you have short course hair that needs a little heat to smooth it out. I like it much better than a flat iron as it is easier to use and tends to dry out your hair less.
