As a Giants fan, I never could have imagined that after the way in the 07 season /08 playoffs ended (where he had a monster game in the NFC Championship against Green Bay where he caught 11 passes for 154 yards and scoring the winning TD against the Patriots) that he would end up on this list. But unfortunately he did. Plaxico had a reputation when he came to the Giants, but for the most part stayed out of trouble. However after the Super Bowl, things really fell apart.
First he complains about his contract, playing the "underappreciated card" and threatens not to report to camp, but then eventually does but doesn't practice much claiming he has an ankle injury.
Second, he gets suspended for commiiting a violation of team rules and gets supsended for a game.
Third, and his biggest knucklehead moment, on Nov 28 at a night club he shoots himself in the leg with a gun, which he has not legally registered in New York, meaning carrying the gun was illegal and is punishable by a minimum of 3 1/2 years jail time.
What was more amazing, shocking, pathetic and yes even funny was bout how he shot himself. He was wearing sweat pants (do they allow people to wear sweat pants in night clubs? well maybe they make exceptions for athletes) and the gun slipped down his pants and the gun went off.
Hey Plax, ever heard of a holster? and even if you haven't why wear a gun in sweat pants?
And if you're going to go out and you're afraid of what might happen and you need protection, maybe you should hire some one to be protect you, be a body guard or just stay home.
Yes, I do understand your concern and other NFL players concerns about being a target of violence, especially after Sean Taylor's death, but gosh stuffing a firearm in your pants can't possibly be the best way to protect yourself.
Things get worse on Dec 23rd as cops then raid his crib, and find a 9 mm hand gun, a rifle and ammunition, meaning more jail time is possible if he didn't have a permit to carry fire arms either.
And on Dec 24, a woman in Florida filed a law suit who says Plax rear ended her with his Mercedes Benz in May, which was uninsured because he negelted to pay the insurance premiums and the policy expired three days early.
Plax, you need to circle such dates on your calender or put a post it note on the fridge.
Nice going Plaxico. You had it all going for you, you were financially secure and living the life so many dream of but less then 1% of people ever get to live, but you let it slip through your hands just like Michael Vick did in 2007 with his foolish operation of an illegal dog fighting/gambling ring and will most likely end up in the slammer like Vick.
It seemed like Pac Man Jones was on his way to winning this title but you pulled off the upset by making a big run down the end of the year and pulled off the upset and earned the title of 2008 Knucklehead Athlete of the Year.
