The people are really nice here. I got my undergrad from MSU and it's a lot of fun to go here. Unlike Southeast Michigan, MSU doesn't have that uptight Michigan attitude. It's filled with people from Illinois and the western part of Michigan. It has great programs and it is really flexible with degrees. East Lansing is specifically designed for a college atmosphere. They have the "student ghetto" for large parties, tons of bars downtown, and 3 malls within the area. There is Lake Lansing if you want to sit outside by the water on a warm-day. The city is drinking oriented -- meaning you will love it if you like to drink but if you don't like to drink don't go there. The tailgaiting for the football games is amazing -- thousands of people drinking. Lots of keg stands, girls, and fun. Great place to get a quality education, meet a lot of people, and have a good time. The negatives are that the weather is cold and the price of tuition keeps going up faster than you can believe. Beautiful campus and a lot of famous speakers come here. It's politically balanced and doesn't really lean one way or the other like many universities. It's really a fun place to spend your college years and you will not feel alienated here. This is a great school to make tons of friends and get a great education. Go Green, Go White!

I grew up in Ann Arbor...But I go to State..why? well number of reasons because of location on my part but also because the college town is really designed for a college and nothing more..Ann Arbor has the university in the middle of a fairly large city..And I was around UM students all the time..not exactly the type of atmosphere you want to have while going to college..

Graduated from here. Awesome school, Big Ten level academics and athletics! Top 20 in private research grants, top 50 in overall research grants, top 10 in corporate research rants, hardly any program is below average! My own program was top 5 but I won't look past Wall Street's #13 ranking of our MBA program, top Sec/Elem Ed schools, top nuclear physics, oh I could go on! This is a great Big Ten school with much history and tradition and unbelievable opportunity. I've spent 4 years here and I'd heartily recommend it to anyone! I don't know what the heck Wiggum was talking about, but maybe he should do something better with his life than post 1222 comments and 6000+ ratings! Get over that inferiority complex there buddy, and I'd imagine you'd get a little demented after that much opinion sharing!

The MSU School of Social Work is a program of administrative corruption, unethical teaching practices, and mistreatment of students. Administrators, professors, and practicum coordinators engage in all kinds of wrong-doing, much of which is done with deliberate interference against students such as making personal attacks against their character. Students have their chances of success crushed by administrators who mismanage their curriculum and engage in character assassination. Minority students come under attack simply for being minorities. Administrators blacklist students by making statements that lead internship supervisors to question their competence. Professors are arrogant and unresponsive to student needs and classroom instruction is terrible. Professors push political agendas that are both anti-male and anti-family. Students who dont embrace their unfair administrative practices or mean-spirited political viewpoints in the classroom are graded unfairly and washed out of the program. Social work administrators engage in a variety of underhanded techniques in which Michigan State University money is used wrongly. Each year, professors and administrators use MSU money to take expensive vacations to various places in the United States and through-out the world. Administrators and professors engage in all kinds of indiscretions and abuses. Their marketing techniques find students experiencing all kinds of deception and chicanery. Students are mislead in numerous ways, such as being duped into enrolling in the program without knowing its a teleconference course, or being led to believe they will get a certain practicum only to discover upon entering that program that the practicum they were promised is unavailable.

I have been on campus at MSU a couple of times. East Lansing is an awesome college town, and MSU's campus is alot nicer than UM's in my opinion.

I'm just finshing up my freshman year and I can honestly say that I've had the most interesting time of my life. So far most my professors have been good even large lectures. You'd be surprised how much interaction can go one between profs and class of 300+.They are willing to help students encouraging us to go to office hours. Not that the MSU doesn't have small classes. Many large class are broken up into discusson groups headed by TA's.

Michigan State University is probably one of the best schools to obtain your undergraduate education. One reason for this is the vast number of programs that are offered. Let's face it, most high school seniors aren't REALLY sure what they want to major in. Luckily, MSU has 14 degree granting colleges offering over 200 programs, just in case you change your mind! But it's not just quantity, it's also quality. Every one of my engineering professors was available to talk and answer questions outside of class. Plus, my fellow students often organized study sessions to review difficult material. You weren't on your own. Add to all that a beautiful campus, 150 study abroad programs, excellent recreational facilities, and a great intercollegiate athletic program. It's no wonder that MSU was the prototype for the 69 other land-grant institutions that followed it. Go State!

If you live in the state and can't get into the University of Michigan, I guess Michigan State is probably a pretty good option for the money. But why else would you want to attend this school? The academics are below average, the student body leans towards redneck-ishness, and East Lansing isn't exactly the most interesting town.

Even though I go to University of Michigan, so it's a natural rival, my brother goes to MSU so I have to like it at least a little.

At MSU I found great opportunities to explore Veterinary Medicine. I received support from many faculty and staff, and was able to create a supportive niche within the big size of the University. Great campus and great experiences! Opportunities are there, you just have to look for them!
