Ok, so having grown up in State College, I have a lot of experience with the area. Personally, I don't like the small town atmosphere or fraternities, but if you like that, Penn State is great. The campus is pretty nice and modern, and the library is excellent. The weather is nice - never too hot or cold, never too much snow, no hurricanes or earthquakes - but there isn't much else to look forward to. I mean, if you want to be instructed by people who speak poor English and by TAs, sure. Also, too many of the professors care only about their research, and think of students as a distraction (which is appalling). Overall, it's decent, but probably more worthwhile to attend a different school if you can get in.

These comments are for the University Park campus only. At this Big 10 school the academics are excellent, the athletics are excellent, the social scene is excellent, and the town is nice. It is the true college experience. It is in a rural isolated area but that is the biggest advantage. Almost no students go home on the weekends and that creates more student activites and school pride. The bars are crazy, the parties are crazy, and students still study a lot and care about their grades. It is ranked higher than other Pennsylvania public universities such as Pitt and Temple. It is without a doubt the best public school in the northeast. The honors college is one of the best in the country. The business school is always in the top 20 and has excellent job connections to the major east coast cities, like Philadelphia, DC, Baltimore, and New York. Alumni are very loyal to the school and will always help out other PSU grads in finding jobs and internships. It has the largest dues paying alumni association in the world. There are also many events for alumni to go back for such as Homecoming, THON, Blue & White weekend, and Arts Fest. The creamery has the best ice cream in the world. The football stadium is the second largest in the country. Almost all of the fortune 500 companies recruit on campus. The school is famous no matter where in the country you go. Almost all students are happy to be going there and couldn't imagine going to a different school. Go to school there and you will not regret it!

Well, Well, Well. I heard that Penn State is amazing in academics, it has a nice camp, it offers many things. However, you guys forgot something. It has the biggest due-paying alumni association in the WORLD. I am an international student who graduated from PSU. Believe it or not, you will find PSU alumni meeting in all countries (almost). Penn Staters are everywhere. To be honest, PSU is one of the best in the world!

God's Country. Beautiful campus in a rural setting. Old Main is an awesome building. Excellent Academics and very good sports programs. Hopefully the Basketball team will get turned around with Coach DeChellis. Joe Pa is one of my heroes - hopefully he can get 7 wins this year(CROSS YOUR FINGERS).

Pretty good school, but if youre not a fan of large universities, this definitely isnt for you. Great school spirit, nice campus, up to date technology and if you desire Greek life (fraternies, etc.), then youre in heaven. The main downfalls are the location (central pennsylvania can be so boring and cold) and the large class sizes (i was in a class of 1,000 my first year). But overall, a solid state university.

Penn State is a wonderful place to attend college if you like the size. It is located in beautiful central PA. State College is not a huge city like Philadelphia, but it is big and there are numerous things there to do. The only thing I don't like about it, is the number of students, but that really doesn't effect the quality of the university itself.
