When I was at this school for my undergrad many of the students that I knew who graduated before me couldn't find a decent job. This university is known as a "commuter school" which catered to local jobbers. In the Finance classes, international students predominantly from China and Hong Kong would cheat on a ridiculous level on the exams. Even after getting caught red-handed, the professors would still pass them due to their "perceived" 4.00 GPAs. The school is one of the biggest education scams that I've seen. The business school talks about ethics, yet they failed to achieve that standing. There is a Filipino professor (Ungson) in the International Business department who is the biggest hypocritical bigot ever. Before the semester would start, the guy would literally go through each student's records and play favorites with the 4.00gpa students when the semester starts. Even if you achieved A+ quality work in his class, you won't be getting an "A" unless your academic record was 4.00gpa prior to taking his class. The school gets 80% of it's tuition revenues from International students who come from wealthy families and seek an "America" college degree. Highly recommend students considering this school to put 2 years in a JC and transfer to a real 4 year university. You won't regret it.

I graduated from SF State with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1998 so I think my opinion has some validity. Their Human Resources program is highly recommended if recruiting, training, and Comp and Benefits is your thing. Dr. Sullivan is the head of the program and he has connections to all the HR Directors of big companies like HP, Intel, Sun Micro, etc. I did have my graduation pushed back at least one semester because one of the classes I needed was cancelled (due to lack of enrollment). My experience with general education classes was good. I thought the teachers did a very good job and their expectations were very fair. Some of them did have accents but nothing that can't be worked around. Being Chinese myself, I have been listening to people with accents all my life so I'm used to it. If you are business major, the vast majority of the students in that program are Chinese so as far as ethnic diversity goes it is diverse. I disagree with Filmgirl's assessment of SFSU being on a beautiful urban campus setting. SFSU is sitting on 19th avenue which is an extremely busy thoroughfare. Lots of people, cars, trains, and buses making their way down that street. SFSU doesn't feel like a student campus, it's more businesslike. The top of the Student Union building offers an oustanding view of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding Sunset district. When you compare how much you spend at SFSU to what UC charges it is definitely worth the money if you want an education. If you want a job, they do have a career building where they have listings of jobs and help you with resume writing. I didn't found it helpful for myself but it's there.

Multiculturism at it's worst. Some instructors speak English so poorly the students can't even understand them. San Francisco State University is a case study in how not to run an institution of higher education. Caters to the lowest rungs in society.

Very much not worth the money or the hassle. Even less value if you enroll in the college of business. It's the largest college of the university but gets the least space. Although some of the part time teachers are quite good and dedicated the full time faculty are sub-par at best. The student body is cliquish and most seemed to be from the lowest rungs of public schools. Nothing gets accomplished without endless "PC" bickering if at all. Services are extremely limited when they exist and required classes are offered infrequently and at odd times leading many to take more than 4 years to graduate.

This university is a scam. Poorly organized, and indifferent to the students well being. Not at all worth the money.
