The Illuminati has been using the Happy Star for about 800 years...UPDATE: Just so you all know, Carl's Jr. is owned by The Illuminati too...

The happy-star is quite pre-school. Not a fan. Then again, I thought the part of "Bambi" when the forest was burning down was hilarious.I don't own a gun - but would consider buying one to shoot that happy star as soon as I click. . . .NOW!

update: In case you missed the blog post, Happystar is now available in sticker form! (i know you all secretly love him :P) details here: ooo...free stickers!original review:While I love happystar, I'm beginning to feel like he's mocking me when load times are particularly long :(Perhaps I will fix by making him frownystar here.:P

I hate this demonic thing. It makes me feel like I'm on some website for little kids, like say, myspace.UPDATE: After two weeks my hatred for this goddam thing has reached biblical proportions. I think I'd sooner have my computer go to the blue screen of death than look at this smug little bastard any more.

I'm cool with the star's appearance. The knock is, when trying to rate multiple items in a list, the star will come up twice - once when I select the item, like it is loading, and the second time once I submit my rating. The confusion lies on the first star, when it is loading your place on the page changes, giving me the impression that I did something. There were a few times when I thought it saved the rating and it did not and I went back in to re-submit each.

Happy Star isn't mocking me, although he is a reminder of the radical changes here at RIA. He does make me wish that I was at Hardees.

Props for the Carl's Jr reference. That's dead on. There must be something better than this you can use. Let me think on it.

I am trying to lighten up this winter, so I like the Happy Star.

It's ok for the 7 year old first graders who undoubtedly come here to rate grizz, dog food, and other perennials.

Welcome to Carl's Jr. Would you like a Western Bacon Cheesburger combo today?

Annoying and slow
Erinlove 01/12/2009
I do not know him personally. But I can't stand his smug grin as he pops up constantly to slow me down. I dislike a few things about this new version... That stupid star is one of them. Is it just me or didn't it seem a lot faster before you were TOLD to wait one moment?

Smoke a fatty first and the star instantly becomes a best friend. All of a sudden I want to bring my laptop to the couch and stuff Fig Newtons into its disc drive while watching "Drawn Together"...mmmm, Fig Newtons....

My first thought upon seeing the re-design of the site was "is that star winking at me?". It's trying to induce to stay and rate something! Perhaps an alternate logo, the "angrystar" should be designed for those who are keen on leaving negative reviews. And yes, that does apply to raters of dogfood and grizz!

He looks friendly. He needs a name (that is, if he's going to be sticking around for a while).

The Happy Star is a nice feature. It's hypnotic. I stared at it and it made me feel like I was nekked and submerged in a vat of warm Vaseline. I think it's different for each time zone...

I like it, but it kind of reminds me of the Carl's Jr. logo.

ATTENTION CITIZENS! ATTENTION! NOW HEAR THIS.YOU WILL OBEY THE HAPPY STAR. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
cyclee 01/12/2009
It's cute, but the nature of its usage here is not making us like it.
fitman 01/12/2009
I've only seen it a dozen times or so, and it's beginning to get on my nerves. ;-)
Wiseguy 01/12/2009
How about a pentagram instead?
ILikePie 01/12/2009
A bit odd.If you change it to a picture of Irish in this pose (but actually directed at the camera)...http://content.pyzam.com/funnypics/misc/mi2.jpg ...I will change my avatar in gratitude.

It's like he's taunting me or something.
