I'd give them 6 stars if I could, after what we've heard about how their community has pulled together in the wake of Monday's tragic events. Best wishes to Hokies everywhere, you're in all our thoughts.

I'm in my second semester here at Tech, and I am loving it. This past half year has been the best time of my life. The classes are tough, however, they aren't impossible unless you are in engineering (good luck to you if you're an engineer). Beautiful campus, great programs in business, engineering, agriculture, and science, great sports, and nice people (for the most part). There's not a school anywhere that I would rather be going to than VT. Go Hokies!

Top Engineering and Research School in Virginia. Great campus, great sports, great people, just the best university I have visited on the east coast.

I graduated from Tech in 1974 (Class of '73, but I took a break), and found Va Tech to be a fantastic place. The town of Blacksburg is great, the setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains is incredible, the people are down to earth. Va Tech offers you the opportunity to study until you drop, or party until you puke, or both. Academics are as good or better than you'll find in any public, and many private universtities. Your university experience is what you make of it. You go to college to set yourself up for what you will spend the rest of your life doing. Va Tech will enable you to succeed in whatever field is out there. But if you want to party, there's plenty of that at any school. Va Tech is just a nicer place to do either.

I've only been there a few times to play football on the drill field and go to a party or two, and every time I've been there, I've had a blast. Who cares about academics, they get a 5 just for havin a great atmosphere.

VIGINIA TECH IS AWESOME. Academics are great. Sports are great. Those who don't like virginia Tech should look at themselves for their displeasure not a school that's so great.

I spent some of the best years of my life at Virginia Tech. The school has it all-- great academics, hard working students who also know how to party, and a beautiful setting in a college town. For those reading the negative comments, don't worry. They're just bitter UVA grads who will never give VT the credit for what it really is-- a great school!

The athletes are criminals, the campus is in the heart of Redneck Central, and the academics are suspect.

Tech at 21? Are these ratings based on academic merit or football?

If attending Tech, a must visit is The Balcony, aka-Top of the Stairs, it's the bar on college ave. closest to Squires. As for the gear that is offered, more variety is a must. More caps please.

although i didn't last long at tech cause i didn't quite fit in with frat-party crowd, they do have excellent academic programs, especially the math and science related fields. and they rigorously evaluate the quality of their teachers as opposed to hiring them solely on their credentials like at the art school i transfered to.

Magellan, what are you talking about. Have you ever even been there? Virginia Tech's Engineering and Architecture programs are top-ranked, it is home to one of the nation's few veterinary schools, and it's programs in Education and Agriculture and Life Sciences are revolutionary. All this and set in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains where you can hike, bike, camp and raft down the 2nd oldest river in the world. There is something for everyone at Virginia Tech. www.vt.edu

All the benefits of a large university with the feel of a small country town. The surounding area is a haven for outdoor activities. And hey, cloned pigs to boot.

as a parent I am enthusiastic about this school, academically and socially. The only negative encountered has been the difficulty getting required classes outside of the major field.

What can I say, GO HOKIES GO! I also heard that Virginia is one of two universities in the country that has a corps of cadets. VTCC develops tomorrows warriors.

Virginia Tech is an incredible school. It not only has one of the top engineering schools in the country, but also offers over 120 other majors, including a quality business school, a highly ranked school of urban affairs and planning, quality arts and sciences courses, and an outstanding school of veteranary medicine. A land grant school located in the beautiful New River Valley, Virginia Tech is surrounded by hiking trails, skiing, white water rafting, and many other outdoor activities. The students at Virginia Tech are at once friendly, accessible, spirited, and loyal. Its athletics are outstanding, including its football program which competed in the national championship Sugar Bowl this January. All of this for a bargain tuition. It's the perfect school.

A terrific institution with so much to offer in the new millenium. On the forefront of technology, research, engineering and more...plus a veterinary school. All in an incredibly beautiful setting in Southwest Virginia. Not to mention the probable national football champions!
