I thought it was great, especially that they had microphones there. I overheard one particularly well-tanned Senator whispering to another Senator as he passed by, saying, "You know dat ting? I took care uh dat ting."

And the conversation between Diane Feinstein and her Marine escort was priceless.

Marine: "Senator, just let me know if you need that back-up Depends, Ma'am."

Senator Feinstein: "Does it have the Presidential Seal on the tushie part?"

And the best one was when Malia and Sasha got to the top of the steps and saw the crowd. Sasha whispered to her older sister, "Malia? Who's playing?"

The question is, who DIDN'T show up. Just about all of "official" Washington was at the inaugural. The one thing that I notice is the lack of bitterness and rancor amongst those attending. People are willing to give him a chance and not judge in advance. I too will keep an open mind, but will be vigilant too.

I thought it was pretty cool to watch the former Vice Presidents and Presidents enter the seating area. However, it was a bit anticlimactic that they introduced a bunch of nobodys in between each of them. Sorry...but I don't care who the organizers of the Inauguration are and the public probably doesn't care either. Watching the Presidents and their families enter. Its kind of funny to see Dick Cheney have to be wheeled around in a wheelchair for the inauguration. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!
I like how Clinton and H.W. Bush seem to be best buddies. The older Bush is looking kind of shaky, but give him credit for still getting around as well as he does for a guy who is almost 85.
