It was a pleasure to watch Yo Yo Ma...20 years older than I remember him, displaying and exuding immense pleasure as he kept his focus on another of the world's great musical ambassadors, Itzak Perlman. This isn't the first time for Yo Yo Ma, as he played for JFK when he was 7-years old. Nice treat and the first time a classical quartet was chosen to play at a Presidential Inauguration. And Perlman? He's played for more royalty than Mozart...Up Date: As I watched them play, it did cross my mind as to whether someone had thought about piping some heat up into their area, as all the instruments were wooden and can't be tuned in such low temperatures. Just so happens that this was the case. They were playing for accuracy. but they weren't plugged in and what we actually heard was a recording. Still a*5* Star performance in my book...Couldn't be helped.

A very fine performance, and easily my favorite part of the ceremony. Seeing Perlman perform is always a treat, and Yo Yo Ma, is a delight.

It was a stirring performance of a new work by Williams, but personally I would have opted for his quartet arrangement of the Overature for Indiana Jones.
