It's been a long time since I've used this site, but I found it to be too screwey trying to use their system. Initially I was excited about having my own website, but eventually I ended up not caring.

Geocities should be applauded for what it gives us. There are many free hosters out there. They all apepar to be better than Geocities. But often they're failed providers that simply re-surfaced under another name, and are sheer liars and decievers. They have so many hidden conditions, and all the hype is deceptive. What i like about Geocities, is the fact that it's highly likely that it wont just dissapear over night, being closely connected to Yahoo. Geocities has many limitations though. Mainly the measly data transfer allowance, and the annoying ad which appears in the top right hand corner, plastering over your well designed and striking page title (i would prefer just a line at the bottom of the page). But for all it's shortcomings,it has to be applauded. Pagebuilder is atrocious though. Very slow, bug ridden, and often locks up for no reason. I've lost count of how many times i was close to going insane when i'd lost several hours work because it locked up and could'nt save the page. So i now use an outside page designer (Mozilla Composer) and use Geocities as the host. It's suprising how you can make some really professional pages outside of Pagebuilder, and import your .html files and images onto your Geocities File handler. Well done Geocities. Not perfect. But the best free one there is.

I have made a couple of Geocities' pages before and found that they are good for beginners (like me). The only problem is, once you keep using it, you get better at website designing (in general), and find that there's more intricate stuff you can do with website designing. Especially when you have a lot of pages, the programme can get cumbersome with links and html.

GeoCities is a service of Yahoo! which provides free webpages with just a small ad that can be easily minimized. There are lots of tools and templates for beginners. For instance, there are several wizards to create a page of digital photos, birth announcement, etc. Perhaps I am admitting some web ignorance here, but one major complaint is that the web addresses are case sensitive. The bottom line is that GeoCities is a free, relatively user-friendly webpage site that has plenty of capacity for most amateurs.

i remeber the good old days of geocities, where you had to pick a street and a number. Sadly, those days are gone. i think the site has gone downhill recently. i guess all good things must come to an end.

I have greatly appreciated the resources geocities has placed at my disposal to create web pages. My only complaint is that they could allocate a little more bandwidth to the free sites. I think they should always enable visitors to see the text of web pages, even if the pictures aren't always available.

You can now remove those annoying Advertisments in Geocites. Here is the html code. Sub </HTML> <noscript><noscript> <plaintext><plaintext> Just copy that, paste it in your website and it should do the trick.

When I first started learning how to design a website, someone reccomended this site to me. I ran my first website through GeoCities, and I learned a lot from it. There are a lot of cool resources you can use to create your own unique web site. This is highly reccomended for beginners who are looking to get their foot in the webmaster community.

Garbage. The ads are rediculous. And that ad that you have to click three times to get rid of it! Yahoo/Geocities used to be the posterboys of free speech on the internet. Now they are sterile as hell. If I'm using a search engine and I see Geocities, there's no way I'm clicking it. It's also a spammers paradise. F YOU GEOCITIES!

I think of GeoCities as a kind of internet sketch pad - a good place to dive in and start playing webmaster, designer or just have some fun goofing around with the Internet. Signing up is a breeze and the web design tools and other features are extremely intuitive. Of course there is the matter of that annoying little popup window every time you open a new page – which can sometimes tend to take a little of the pizzazz out of the effect of your opening page. But, when you figure in the accessibility, ease of use and lack of cash involved it can be easier to get past this mild irritation.

The web hosting/community geocities is good with alot of included webspace. I like the full featued site editor and it gives you alot of optiions, but you cannnot copy and paste text into the editor, you have to type in everything. also another thing that is limited is the support for frames sites, you have to edit the frames in the manual HTML editor in your file manager and you have to edit frame at a time. you cant reformat pages to pagebuiler format if you use them in the advanced editor. another thing that is common with all webhosts like geocities is that if you upload an HTML file you made in a different application you have to change all your image directories and sources so that the images load form your address , not the c:drive path! so you have to go into the advanced HTML editor and fix all the image sources to your site url. but I am overall impressed that it gives you so many options for a free web host, and best of all you have unlimited bandwith so you don't have to pay for extra site transfer gigs. I highly recommend this host for all you basic to somewhat advanced web developers and it is mostly recommeneded for first time users.

Geocities is one of the greatest, most relieable websites online. Geocities is a place where you can make your own web pages for free, and always make changes on them, do whatever you want, for free. You have to be part of Yahoo! to do this but, I have about 10 web sites, that I didn't have to reach into my pocket and pay for to get.

This is a great hub for all sorts of info. My only gripe would be the lack of richness and credibility displayed on some Geo Cities alied sites.

This is a really nice web site that give you space on the web to design home pages. The cool thing about it is that they give you a great number of tools, which you can utilize while building your own site. GeoCities also puts the sites in a sort of community, for people with the same interests, which makes your site easy to find.

I hate this site! Every website that it hosts has an annoying pop-up window that repeats everytime you click on something else in the page. Also, when an address is incorrect and the "file not found on this server" page comes up an entire graphics rich, computer slowing site pops up instead of a normal message.

GeoCities is an excellent, free web site provider. It is set up in a very straight forward way, making things easy to find. It allows beginners and advanced HTML users a very good place to build a website. The GeoCities advertisement banner that appears when a homepage on GeoCities is viewed is placed in a manner that doesn't take away from the page, unlike some providers which take up a lot of space.

This is a great place to start your web paging adventure as well as to continue it. The onsite editing, subcategories and great looks are just a few of the many cool features. I am no longer just beginning HTML, but I am still faithful to the company because of the ease of use.

Geocities is a good site for people beginning to build their pages. Their streaming audio features are a definite plus. However, among web pages, they are not one of the top sites in terms of space and/or features.

Almost perfect. Their homestead builder is easy to use, and free. Unfortunately, the addresses are really long and complicated.

Don't waste your time on GeoCities. They control your content, they infect your web page with watermarks and banner ads, and they don't promote a sense of community in their users.

The help desk of GeoCities won't respond to questions, neither will the tech support. I have been a user of their sites and have accounts, but the merge with Yahoo froze my accounts.

Geocities lets users put websites into very specialized regions so interest can be very specifically categorized. Overall feel of the site is upbeat, but graphic quality is poor- not enough colors and drawn too cartoonish. Geocities gives homepage builders only a small amount of space compared to others.

Over half of the broken links I come across on the Internet have GeoCities in the url. This site brings most web-users hassle. This site needs to house and maintain its links more carefully.

If you're desperate for web space, whore yourself to geoCities. People will stop visiting your web site because they'll get sick of pop-up advertising windows. I would rather pay for web space than have geoCities use my content to earn advertising dollars.

I like it because it is free, and a lot of people use it. However, it can get confusing and your site can be suspended any time.

geoCities is a great place to start if you are looking to create a personal website and don't know how to do the actual coding. As a person who hasn't taken classes like computer science, I find it very simple and fun becasue I can create a website that doesn't require days to make. With the easy clicking of a mouse, I can make buttons and insert pictures and icons where I want them. I consider geoCities a creative forum for expression and an interesting way of letting others get to know a little bit more about me.

Great web site for publishing your own homepage. Good navigation in front page, but might want some more organization. I like the layout/graphics, but it's hard to sort out homepage types-you have to search for awhile.

11 Mb's of website space! I have an old page on there for over 4 years now and it's still up functionally fine. I'm recently building another one and its upload there is superfast. No larger banner to block your webpage, only this tiny box on the top right which can close.

Geocites in its homepage provides many features which are available to the user, although these features may not be the premiere ones. But they also provide webpages and email which is one of the most popular sites. Web space though is limited per account.
