this one and Operation Smile. simple, honest and straightforward foundations that lack the controversial convictions and ambiguous idealistics of causes like saving the rainforest and the world's animals. it probably wouldn't be too difficult to research this group's budget just to be sure your investment is worthwhile

Make A Wish is a tremendous organization and the Web site provides the key highlights about the organization. It is unlike other non-profit Web sites in that you can't just click a button and make a donation (like The Hunger Site), but it is really informative. By far the best part of the site is the section which tells the various stories of kids who had their wishes granted. You always hear about the kid who wanted to meet his or her favorite athlete or celebrity, but what many of these kids want is so much simpler than that. If you think you're having a bad day because you got cut off in traffic on the way to work or you didn't get that promotion that you thought you deserved, take a quick look at this site and you'll realize just how lame you're really being.

A friend of mine volunteers for the Make A Wish Foundation and last year when one of the children was flying in to spend the weekend in Maine I went along with her to give the appearance of a lot of people waiting to meet her when she stepped off the plane. Her wish was to come to LL Bean and learn how to Kayak. Two things struck me while I was standing there in the airport waiting for this stranger..1st how when I did see her, how healthy she looked. I mean she looked like any other kid walking off of that plane, you would've never known she was as ill as she was. 2nd how ordinary her wish was..not ordinary in the sense of "what a lame wish" but just that it was an ordinary thing that anybody might wish for, she didn't want to go off and do some whirlwind tour she just wanted to do something that most any of us might want to do if given the opportunity. Great foundation for a great cause.
